I found the Jewel Twist game while looking for Mac puzzle games to play around with on Saturday morning. The next thing I knew, the morning turned had turned to evening before I realized what had happened to me. It has been years since I had treated myself to a good Mac puzzle game.

The object of Jewel Twist is to match three jewels in a row to clear all the blue squares off the board. When you run out of moves, the game will prompt you to reshuffle the tiles or quit. If you aren't able to find the next move, click on the Hint button, and it will highlight the next move.

This game reminds me of Jewel Quest, only you have 100 levels to play and you can create your own board games. The puzzles you build are stored in the Custom section of the puzzle menu. One thing I wished that I could do was edit the puzzles that I created, especially when I realized that I had made a design mistake that cost me the ability to clear the board. Apart from that, I loved having the ability to create my own puzzles.

The puzzles that came with the game range from easy to difficult. Soothing music plays in the background as you match the tiles. You can turn the music and sound effects down or off. I wound up turning both down quite a bit so that my family would think that I was working instead of playing. My ploy didn't last. They thought it was funny that I was so addicted to this game.

I think you'll become addicted to the Jewel Twist game, once you start playing it. You can download a trial version, which lasts an incredibly short time. For the amount of game play you get with this Mac puzzle game, I think $19.95 is very reasonable.
