Bold Accessories to Bring Your Clothes to Life

With summer well on its way, the season is offering up designer outfits, stylish shoes and fashionable accessories to accommodate each person's liking. Wearing complicated ensembles aren't necessary when simple clothes can be complimented by fun jewelry pieces. Bold gold, polished stones and sterling silver are just a few items that are used to create some noteworthy pieces for your summer accessories. Creativity can go a long way when it comes to mixing things up. Try these pieces on for size the next time you're debating on what to add to your tank top, capri's and sandals.

Turquoise, Coral and Bead Necklaces

Necklaces made from turquoise, coral and beads are sold in department stores, on-line jewelry stores and small scale retailers across the nation. Turquoise and coral strands are available in obscure shapes, beads, sticks and are often set with gold and silver. Stacking several necklaces will bring about a relaxed summer style and add flavor to neutral tones such as khaki and brown. Creative consumers can shop in places such as Black Mineral Market to purchase strands of turquoise to make personalized necklaces.

Freshwater Pearls

These grains of sand culminate into pearls which have been used for thousands of years for jewelry and decoration. Stacked or single strands are available and can be found in colors such as golden, white, lavendar and black, as well as, multi-colored pearls in several shapes. The lengths can very from 14 inches which is choker length to opera style pearls which can be doubled or tripled around the neck. Baroque, button and off-round shapes offer fun alternatives to the traditional strand of June Cleaver pearls. The prices will depend on the length, color, shape and quality.

Cuffs

A cuff is a sturdy bracelet which is open on the underside is sold in gold, sterling silver and vermeil which is sterling silver coated in 18 karat gold. Cuffs are available in plain precious metals or embellished with designs, crystals, stones and etc. Besides wearing a cuff with a short sleeve top it can be worn on the upper arm when wearing dresses. Column dresses paired with an upper arm cuff can complete your summer style.

Bold Rings

Although semi-precious stone rings made in gold can be very expensive there are budget friendly alternatives available in silver and vermeil. Rings with amethyst, prasiolite, citrine, lemon and smoky quartz are carried by retailers in different sizes and shapes.

Stacked Bangles

Years ago Madonna made the jelly bracelets famous by stacking them three inches deep on her arm and now the stacked bangle has come back in fashion. Sterling, gold and vermeil add sparkle against sun kissed skin. If precious metals aren't in you're taste; Madonna style jelly bracelets are offered in retailers such as Claire's.

Hoop Earrings

Many retailers are offering versions of hoops in gold, silver, vermeil and silver coated with 14 karat gold. Although sizes vary; large bold hoops along side some of the summer hair trends such as side pony tails and faux-hawks can really up the ante on your summer outfit. Hoops are also designed in a vast assortment of styles including inside/outside diamond hoops, hanging beads, stones or enamel for those who are looking for a bolder style earring.

    I used to love jewelry and bought it on each vacation we went on, but today, it's a different story. I guess that's a good thing for our budget. LOL!
