Consider your own lifestyle. Some days you feel you could conquer the world and other days you can barely pull on that pair of jeans and get moving. So, how could anyone tell my personality from the jewelry I wear?
When you look at someone else and they pass you wearing enough jewelry to cover a basic size Christmas tree, you immediately wonder what is going on in their lives. No, they probably don't have it all together and either have a need to be noticed or they have no clue as to fashion sense or style.
The many people you note wearing no jewelry likely give you less ways to remember them and what they stand for. Or they may have other ways of promoting or presenting themselves.
Luckily, today as with most fashion - about anything goes. You can mix colors, styles, beads, metals, woods, dangles, waves and pieces. One day you can wear whimsy and the next day one very traditional piece can make a great statement about yourself.
When going for job interviews, it's best to choose one or two classic pieces that will enhance the outfit or look you wish to present. However, if you're going out for the evening, throw on several bracelets and mix or match a couple of long chain necklaces. Perhaps you'd like some earrings also.
Jewelry can be very expensive - or not. If you're on a tight budget, you can even pick up great pieces of jewelry at garage sales. Check to make sure clasps work and that they are intact. Think about how you will combine them with the jewelry and clothing wardrobe you already have. Or maybe, it is totally fun and for a few cents or dollars you will love that piece every time you wear it.
Watch what the people in the news are wearing. Currently they're combining several long necklaces while adding several bracelets. You can also wear a very expensive short necklace and border it with a longer necklace that will truly impact your total look.
You can wear bling with jeans or you can wear one simple chain. Be yourself and promote yourself. But don't be afraid to have fun with jewelry. Remember - it's like the frosting on your favorite cake.
