Jewelry Making Ideas: Copper Wire

Homemade Copper Ring with Green Granite

With the economy within the United States being in such a bad state many people are looking for ways to save money. Because items are so expensive many people are forced to cut back on the items that they consider a luxury and one of these things is typically jewelry because many husbands can't afford to spend the extra money. The problem is that females will always love jewelry and since they are unable to buy the pieces they love they are forced to find create ways to make their own. I started designing my own pieces a while back because I enjoyed the artistic aspect of creating your own jewelry and I find that many materials can be used. Copper is one of the easiest materials to use because it is easy to work with and very reliable. I have created a lot of copper jewelry for an inexpensive price and it is pretty easy to do. One of my favorite pieces of jewelry is a copper ring that I created with a green granite stone from my collection.

What you will need is 7 copper wires about 6 inches in length each, 1 copper clasp, and 1 pair of pliers and one store of your choosing. What you will need to do is align all of the pieces of copper so that they are the same length and parallel to each other. You will need to align them and bend them into an oval using your hands. You can also bend with the pliers to make them easier. You will want to close the oval shape on one end by pinching the pliers onto the copper until one end of the oval is sealed. You can then slide on the clasp and move it into place, I purchased mine from Amazon but you can use any that you like. You need to slide the clasp into place and then slide the stone onto the copper outing of the oval and close this section with pliers. I closed the oval and used an additional piece of copper attached to the oval to house the stone. You simply bend the copper onto the oval and slide the store into place from the bottom and slide it into position. You will then tighten all connection points with your pliers. This copper jewelry can be worn with formal or casual attire and I wear this piece often to work.
