Jewelry has been around for thousands and thousands of years. In every country, all over the world jewelry is used, made and sold. Gemstones are loved and treasured. They are natural stones from the Earth. Some believe that they contain metaphysical healing powers. When worn the gems put off healing vibrations. Amethyst, for example, is very calming, and rose quartz promotes feelings of love.

The first thing you'll need to do to make a gemstone necklace is to choose your stones. They are available on eBay and Etsy. You can find one hundred or more gemstone chips for a dollar, or you can purchase gemstone beads usually eight for a dollar. The total value of your necklace will be much higher. You have to spend money to make money, unless you already have the supplies on hand. Choose the stones you'd like to use and purchase them. Gemstone necklaces can contain more than one shape, color, and size of gemstone beads. Variety is what gives the necklace it's uniqueness, and style. Spacer beads are available in all sorts of shapes and metals. Inserting spacer beads adds to the look, and to the length of your necklace. Remember, this piece of jewelry is made by you so it shouldn't look like what everyone else is making.

After you've chosen your stones it's time to lay them out. You can even draw a sketch of how the necklace could be arranged. Lay out the different shapes and sizes of stones. Your necklaces needs to be long enough to wear. A chocker necklace is generally about seven inches long. If you want a necklace that hangs lower make the necklace longer. Try three of one kind followed by one of another. Experiment. Arrange the stones until you are happy with the look of the pattern you have created.

Once your stone beads are all laid out and you know how you want the pattern to go then it's time to get your string and clasps ready. Gemstones are a heavier type of bead. You'll want your string to be durable. Thin fishing line works very well. Wire does too. Necklace cord is available at craft stores, or online wherever beads are found. Your clasp needs to be workable. Tie one end of the clasp to the string and begin to string your beads. One they are strung tie the other end of the clasp on and there you go! A necklace. Try it on, wear it for a little while. Does it feel and look alright?

Once your necklace has passed the wear ability test it's time to get a good photo of it. Place the necklace of a piece of fabric attractively. Take some shots and choose the best one. Crop it, and zoom in on it if you can. This will be how your potential customers know what they're getting. The photo has to sell the necklace.

Next, to sell, go online to a site like eBay or Etsy and list your item. If you've never used these sites then you'll have to sign up, for free. There will be a small fee to list your item. Choose the price you want to sell for and consider the cost of shipping, supplies, listing, and labor. Never sell too high. Do your research on these sites and see what the others are selling their gemstone necklaces for. There is a lot of competition so you'll want to have your price lower than most of the others. I've seen people selling gemstone necklaces for thirty dollars or more. There is definitely profit potential. Once you necklace has been listed you are all set! Wait to see if it sells. If by chance it doesn't keep it and love it forever, or list it again. Thanks for reading and take care!
