JibJab Obama Song Steals Show at Correspondents Dinner

JibJab has spoofed Obama before, but JibJab got to do it to Obama's face last night. JibJab.com, a premiere e-card site, entertained Obama and his guests at the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association dinner last night. JibJab sent Obama their newest e-card and song parody, in which Obama is every bit the superhero the left advertised him as, and hopes he still is.

JibJab's new song parody was sung to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" only with more of a rock-and-roll beat. President Obama was a JibJab superhero saving the USA, and the world, like magic.

In this world created by JibJab, Obama fixed every economic problem, karate chopped the Taliban, did battle with pirates again - and all in a red superhero outfit.

This view of Obama as a superheroic messiah has constantly been joked about and ridiculed by the right since Obama became a threat for President. JibJab used it for laughs, and to show off their e-card animation to the President and his audience.

For years, JibJab has been a leading web site for e-cards, and for comedic parody. They have done various political satire e-cards for years, most notably in each of the last three Presidential elections. But JibJab got its biggest audience yet last night, debuting their new song parody to Obama and the other movers and shakers in the room.

On the JibJab website, the video of "He's Barack Obama" ends with a message from their staff, advertising how JibJab can take real-life faces and put them on an e-card. The customized e-card service isn't free, however. But their Obama video, and the impressive animation, will certainly get JibJab users to pay up and want to star in an e-card of their own.

While JibJab made sure that they would dominate Internet searches today, the Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner didn't just feature JibJab comedy and songs.

Like he did at the White House Correspondents Dinner, President Obama did a few comedic zingers and routines of his own, mainly about his infamous fly swatting and his recent trip to Egypt. The Orion News Network and Daily Show/Apple star John Hodgman also added laughs during the night.

These dinners not only make headlines for comedy, but also spark debate as to whether this lets the media get too cozy with the President, a man they are supposed to be covering and exposing. Certainly, the media is no stranger to accusations that they are too friendly with Obama.

But around the Internet, the main buzz this time is over JibJab's latest Internet hit, which has already been rebroadcast on networks like CBS this morning. Once again, JibJab's jabs are certain to get a lot of hits, and a few new paid subscriptions as well.
