Jillian Michaels and The Biggest Loser

SuperM
I am a huge fan of Jillian Michaels. I have been watching the Biggest Loser since almost the beginning of Season Four and I have just felt that everything that Jillian has said has been directed towards me. I know, I know, she is not really speaking to me because she has no clue that I even exist, but her words to the contestants on the show have spoken to me just as if she was in the same room with me. Some of the things that I have read about her on the web have been that she is just at this for the money and publicity, but I can't really see that. If you watch one show or even the extras that aren't aired on t.v., but just on-line, you will find that Jillian really has a heart for these people. She is portrayed as this really tough trainer, which I believe she is...I mean, let's face it, it would probably only take one punch from her to knock me out...but she has shown her emotional side time and time again. Just this week, for instance, she broke into tears when Brittany fell beneath the yellow line and had the possiblity of going home. She shows a passion for what she does and wanting to help people. A few weeks ago when all the contestants were allowed to spend some time at home, Jillian called each one of them in the morning and in the evening before they went to bed. She was so upset that Paul never answered his phone when she called. She was trying to get through to him that she cared, but he just had no idea. I think that is one of the main ingredients to weight loss; knowing that someone cares and wants you to succeed. It is something that so many people struggle with, but when they find that one person that believes in them, they are able to continue on with success.

I think that one of the reasons that the Biggest Loser is so successful at helping people lose weight isn't the money (although that is motivating), it's the accountability of all of America watching them in their battle to lose weight. They don't just have one person that they will let down if they don't lose anything, they will let down all the viewers also. That is powerful. Where else do you get that type of support system? There isn't anywhere else. Add in the toughest trainers and nutritionists, and you have a wonderful recipe for successful weight loss.

That is why I will continue to watch The Biggest Loser every Tuesday night. I will get up everytime during the show and do crazy leg lifts, and bridges for my abs because I am motivated. I may not have all of America watching me, but I do believe that someday Jillian might figure out that I do exist and I want to be able to defend myself.

Interesting take on the show. I always thought Jillian came across a little harsh. I'm also following the review of the Body Shred DVD by another CP. You all are changing my opinion.
