Jillian Michaels to Leave 'Biggest Loser'

Jillian Michaels will be leaving NBC's "The Biggest Loser" after being with the show for six years. The Huffington Post and other media outlets are reporting that Michaels has decided to leave the show in order to devote a year to becoming a mother (she plans to adopt) and doing charity work.

Interestingly, it was her stint on the summer reality series "Losing It With Jillian" that piqued her interest in starting a family. Her exposure to families with children put her in touch with the joys and rewards of motherhood. Indeed, with her passion and resources, there is a child out there who is about to become very, very blessed.

The child will become blessed in the same way that Louis Bardo Bullock is blessed. Louis is the adopted son of actress Sandra Bullock, who, like Jillian Michaels, is a celebrity with the resources to provide a child with all his needs.

He or she will be blessed in the same way that Angelina Jolie's three adopted children are blessed (Maddox, Pax, and Zahara). Imagine what these three children's lives might have been like had they not had the good fortune of becoming Jolie's children. All of them come from poverty-stricken backgrounds that could very well have led to short, nasty and brutish lives.

The process was arduous, but pop star Madonna has also provided a rich blessing for a child. Last year she won the right to adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James, who hails from Malawi. She also has an adopted son - David Banda.

I applaud these women for adopting children. What a very selfless - and indeed godly - gesture. It has been said that the purest form of faith is characterized by a demonstrable concern for the poor, oppressed and marginalized. The Bible, in fact, says that our treatment of the poor and downtrodden equals our treatment of God (Matthew 25:31-46).

So you see, by leaving "The Biggest Loser," Jillian Michaels is about to turn herself - and her future child - into a Big Winner. I don't know if Michaels is a believer or not, but I can tell you this: Her plans to take a year off to adopt a child and get involved in charity work makes my Lord very, very happy.
