I had the privilege of attending one of Spoon Man's shows at a local library and was delighted at what I witnessed. Children were all huddled together, wide eyed in awe at Jim Cruise's ability to play the spoons. When I say play the spoons, I really do mean play. He transformed two ordinary pieces of silverware into a rhythmic instrument. He tapped his spoons on his thighs and palms making sure to accentuate the music and keep in time. It was all very exciting to watch and listen to.
The vibe of the atmosphere was very peaceful and very relaxed. Children and adults revealed big grins, and laughter could be heard within the room. I think the peaceful atmosphere had to do with Jim Cruise's light hearted persona. He was very enthusiastic and animated which created such a fun atmosphere.
The show was great! All though the show was geared toward children it was not overly silly, it was a show that adults could enjoy as well.
Jim Cruise was not only entertaining he appeared very level-headed. Having graduated from Aquinas with a business degree in 1988 and running a successful business based on spoon playing, he gave out words of advice to the young children in the audience. His words informed them to stay on the right road by following three simple steps, avoiding drugs, listening to his parents, ad getting an education. In short, his words revealed to the children that they could be whatever they wanted, because (as living proof) anything is possible.
What I enjoyed about this show was that it was interactive, and entertaining. I enjoyed it even more that he took a moment to talk to the kids and give them meaningful advice; which they all remembered at the end of the show. Seeing the kids repeat what Jim told them earlier was very impressive; he captivated their attention in a positive way.
The show was brilliant. Jim Cruise stated in his show that he had five kids, and a mortgage and he was able to support this all playing the spoons. Wow! Parents, this show was a good one and I would recommend Jim Cruise Spoon Man for children's events.
