Jim Henson's Fantastic World of Puppets and Art at MSI in Chicago

Jim Hensen's Fantastic World is a special exhibit of the famed puppeteer at the Museum of Science and Industry that runs from September 24, 2010 to January 23, 2011. The opening of the Jim Hensen exhibit is on what would have been his 74th birthday. The exhibit features the artwork and creative process to the Museum of Science and Industry. The show might spark or inspire creativity in children and adults who attend.

Jim Hensen was the creator of popular puppets including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Bert and Ernie and The Muppets. The puppet characters are beloved by children and adults who grew up with the colorful puppet characters.

Jim Hensen's Fantastic World is a family friendly event at the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI). The exhibit includes more than 130 original artworks by Henson, demonstrating Henson's process of visual thinking. Henson's artworks at the exhibit include cartoons, storyboards, drawings television, movie props and photographs.

Visitors will see photographs of Jim Henson and his collaborators during the creative process. There are also experimental films and original video productions from Henson's early career.

Some of Henson's most popular puppets will be in attendance, including Rowlf, Kermit the Frog, Bert and Ernie, Sir Linit and Mahna Mahna. Making a special debut, is Miss Piggy from Muppets Take Manhattan. Miss Piggy has been added to the Jim Henson exhibit for Chicago only.

Kids at the MSI will be able to exercise their imagination and nventiveness through hands-on activities like creating a character or directing a puppet show. The show can nurture the creative process for budding artists.

Jim Henson's Fantastic World was organized by The Jim Henson Legacy and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in cooperation with the Henson family, The Jim Henson Company, The Muppets Studio, LLC, and Sesame Workshop.

The Jim Hensen's Fantastic World exhibit requires a ticket purchase in addition to the regular MSI admission fee.
