Of course there are a lot of argument against this. First off, what about the kids welfare and safety? I believe that Leavitt and Leach are both pretty intelligent men who made a few mistakes. I really don't believe another school will have a problem out of them. If you get three strikes in life, they just used 2. They know that if something like this happens again on their watch that the closest they will get to football is Madden 1999 on Sege Genesis. I think they would be on the their best behavior.
Another argument might deal with the financial aspect. I do not mean what a school would have to pay them but how would the big donors react. This would be the most viable argument against hiring them. No president or athletic director wants to make a risky hire if the possibility of losing millions in donations is on the table.
The reason I think a small school might have a chance at one of these two men is because I do not think that any major school is going to even talk to them unless a job comes open for cleaning toilets. I believe that Leavitt and Leach both feel that they were let go improperly and I believe they will carry a chip on their shoulder because of what they feel has happened to them. I mean just imagine if Rice was able to hire both of these men as coordinators. I believe it would truly benefit both parties. Recruits, assuming they are not worried about getting hit or placed in a closet for hours, would love to play for these two men. Leavitt and Leach could begin to regain the respect they have lost because of these incidents and Rice is in the national championship in 2015.
