Jim Nantz Divorce: A Big Controversial Divorce Hearing Leaves Sportscaster in Tears

Meg G.
The Jim Nantz divorce is a public spectacle. The Jim Nantz divorce reveals he has a 29 year old girlfriend. The Jim Natz divorce also reveals that his wife Lorrie wants $1.5 million in child support annually, along with alimony.

Lorrie Nantz spent over $1 million in 9 years on clothing and jewelry, according to LA LATE. Recently, Lorrie Nantz purchased a $12,000 necklace and can't even remember details about the purchase!

Jim Nantz and Lorrie Nantz have one 15 year old child, so as the Jim Nantz divorce is final, Lorrie Nantz would only receive child support for 3 years.

Jim Nantz contends like so many others in the same situation that his marriage was already dead. He makes $7 million per year, and has a deal with golf supplier Titleist. The value of the deal with Titleist has not been revealed.

Who is Jim Nantz? For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jim Nantz, he is a sportscaster widely known for his work with CBS Sports. He has a golfing background, and went to the University of Houston and majored in broadcasting. His college roommates included (future) professional golfers Fred Couples and Blaine McCallister.

Jim Nantz is one of the few sportscasters to ever have announced play-by-plays for both a Super Bowl and an NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.

Jim Nantz also wrote a book Always By My Side - A Father's Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other. He was given a Sports Emmy Award in April of this year for his play-by-play announcements during 2008.

The Jim Nantz divorce will likely put a strain on the successful play-by-play announcer. I highly doubt that the courts will be very sympathetic with him, as he has a girlfriend already.

Who is the girlfriend mentioned in the Jim Nantz divorce media flurry? Her name has not been revealed, however Jim Nantz met her while promoting his book.

Jim Nantz cried in front of a judge when telling him just how much his marriage had deteriorated. According to hoopsworld.com, Jim Nantz said the following during his divorce trial:

In 2004, I got the Man of the Year award from the New York Athletic Club. Rudy Giuliani had been the previous year's winner and it really meant a lot to me. My mother flew in from Houston, but Lorrie wasn't there."

Nantz said he was given an oil portrait of himself at the dinner, but Lorrie wouldn't let him hang it in their Westport home. "It ended up in a warehouse"

The Jim Nantz divorce does not have a happy ending. Lorrie and Jim Nantz are through. Whether or not he has to be the exuberant sum demanded by Lorrie is up to the courts to decide.

I hope his wife gets all the money she can. I have always admired, Jim Nantz, but always wondered how his marriage survived with him on the road all the time. He will find out that a 29 year old is not the answer. Feel sorry for their daughter, Caroline. Kids suffer the most.

Courtney Richards and I dated for awhile. All she wants is money and sex. I wonder what her family thinks of covorting with a famous sports personality who could be her father.
