We discovered Jim Stone's Service when we moved back to Indiana 5 years ago. Jim Stone's Service is located at 225 W. Lexington Avenue in Elkhart, Indiana. The garage is open Monday through Friday from 7 am until 5 pm. He is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Unsure of who to trust for our car repairs, I asked a friend who they recommenced and she suggested Jim Stone's Service. She told me that she once took her car there knowing her brakes were going bad and dropped it off one day requesting to have all her brakes replaced. When she returned to pick up her auto, she was told that only 2 brakes were replaced as the other two were fine. Imagine that? A auto repair business not out to take advantage and not replace things not needed? Wow, that's for me!

From 2002 to the present day, we still take our vehicles to Jim Stone's Service. Denny, the manager, keep the garage spic and span and smoke-free. That's rare to find in an auto repair business. Denny is super friendly and has become a friend. He gets to know you asking where you live, work and possible friends you have in common.

My last experience with Jim Stone's Service was a few weeks ago when I got a flat tire on my way home from work. I made the mistake of taking my van to Walmart since it was closer to my house and asked the mechanic to have a look at my tire to see if it could be repaired. It wasn't long before he returned to the sale counter to tell me that I needed a new tire. I asked him if he found a nail in my tire. He said he did not look because he could see that my tire was bald and I needed a new one. I was leery if this was true or not since my husband never mentioned my bald tire when he put the spare on. So I waited til the next day to go to Jim Stone's Service garage.

Denny, manager at Jim Stone's Service garage, greeted me as always with a smile and asking how he could help me today. I told him of my dilemma with the flat tire and he preceded to escort me to the van to have a look-see. He pulled the tire out and rolled it around some and said he couldn't see anything so he'd take it inside to air it up. So he put air in it and then called me over to show me it had blown and he pointed to a blister like air-leak near the rim. Funny how he never told me my tire was bald. So he went to his computer to give me price quotes on new tires. I cringed at the prices since my van is older and I don't plan to keep it more than 6-9 months longer. Then he stopped and looked towards the garage and said wait a minute. He walked n and looked at some tires on the floor and told me that they were changing tires on another vehicle and they were the same exact tire as mine, in brand and size and even same tread. He asked if I wanted one of those? I said sure! So I walked to the library for a while and returned to get my van and was pleasantly surprised that my bill was only $15.00!

So I got a tired replaced, old tired disposed and spare put back in it's carrier on my van all for $15.00!!! That's the type of business Denny runs at Jim Stone's Service and the only person I recommend and trust in Elkhart, Indiana.

Hey you are so right, they worked on our cars too. It is a great honest place to do business.

I've heard good things about them. I always use Master automotive on Main Street.
