Jimmy Buffett in Stable Condition After Fall

Jimmy Buffett, American folk singer, has fallen. He was admitted to a Sydney hospital and is in stable condition. Buffett was on a tour in Sydney, Australia, at the Opera House. He is currently in stable condition with a head injury.

The singer was on stage singing an encore of "Its Been a Lovely Cruise" when he fell off the stage into the crowd, according to a report on the CNN website. This song is commonly an encore for the singer. I have linked to the song here so people can listen to the words to understand the full impact of the tune.

According to a report on the ABC News website, a fan said it appeared that the singer fell flat on his face after the encore and did not get back up. Jimmy Buffett lay unconscious for eight minutes before he began to come around, and was then rushed to the hospital.

Buffett's manager, Michael Chugg, came on stage immediately after the fall and asked fans to leave the area right away. Some reluctant fans left but most hung around waiting for word of the head parrot and his condition. Fans of Buffet are known as "parrot heads," and Jimmy Buffett himself is lovingly called the parrot.

This was Buffett's first tour in Australia in 20 years. Before the fall he took, the singer had promised the Aussie fans he would return next year. It is unclear at this time if he will make his next concert date, which is Jan. 29 in Auckland, New Zealand.

Buffett had celebrated his 64th birthday on Dec. 25, 2010. He is still performing to sold-out crowds around the world. The day he fell in Australia was the singer's third day of non-stop sold-out concerts in Sydney this week.

The official website of Jimmy Buffett, Margaritaville, is the best place for fans to get current updates. On Jan. 26, 2011, the day after his fall, the official website is reporting that Buffett is doing well and will be released tomorrow.

Jimmy Buffett wears many hats, including singer, songwriter, and businessman with several restaurants. He is an author and movie producer. He is also part owner of two minor league baseball teams.
