Jimmy Carter Senile Statesman

Since losing his bid for re-election to Ronald Reagan in 1980 Jimmy Carter has spent much of his time attempting to establish an image as a statesman in a belated attempt to overcome the failure of his one-term administration. While supporters of Jimmy Carter would maintain Carter's efforts are genuine and sincere efforts to promote world peace other Carter observers point out that most, if not all of the former President's, appear to be a vindicative design to oppose, if not to embarrass, the the administrations of the Party which defeated him.

In his self-appointed role as world statesman Carter has often made it a point to journey to and meet with several international leaders with whom the United States has either strained or severed relations:

In 1994 traveled to North Korea to meet with Kim ll Sung the ruinous dictator who has brought starvation and poverty to his nation. Carter hailed his meeting as a great success in opening relations and in creating a nuclear non-proliferation treaty with North Korea. Carter agreed to give Kim ll Sung Two nuclear reactors and tons of annual fuel oil supplies to cooperate....However by 2005 North Korea announced it had developed nuclear weapons and proved this by conducting an underground nuclear test in 2006.

Carter blamed the failure of the treaty on unnamed 'Republicans'.

Carter followed up his North Korean success with a visit to Fidel Castro in Cuba in 2o02 and visit to Communist leading Hugo Chavez in Venezuela in 2004. Both of these dictators or near dictators are avowed enemies of the United States. In Venezuela Carter monitored elections there for President and declared them to be completely fair when worldwide observers noted that overnight Chavez has overcome a 20% deficit in post-vote polling to win by 20%. The U.S. News and World Report reported there was "massive fraud" in the election Carter blessed.

Carter has been a frequent critic of the United States and of Israel's relationship with the Palestinians. direct rebuke of the Bush administration's campaign to isolate it.

In August of 2007 offered to negotiate with the notorious terrorist group ETA.

This week Carter has announced plans to negotiate with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. This is the same Hamas which planned and conducted the murderous terrorist attack in Jerusalem (19 August 2003) killing 21 civilians, a third of which were children, effectively ending the brief cease fire which had actually not been observed by Hamas or other terrorist organizations.

Since the outbreak of hostilities (September 2000), Hamas carried out over 500 terrorist attacks killing 390 people and injuring 2,100 (mostly civilians). It is a hate driven organization of thugs and assassins.....and yet is one with which Carter seeks to represent in negotiations in what the Washington Post terms " a direct rebuke of the Bush administration's campaign to isolate it. "

Carter's bitterness resulting from his crushing defeat at the hands of Ronald Reagan is driving him to achieve some sense of vengeance at any cost. Sadly, the cost he inflicts is to our nation and not to him personally. His overwhelming ego seems to have convinced him that he is is somehow relevant when in fact history will show him as grand failure both as President as a former president.

As a self proclaimed Sunday School teacher Carter would do well to recall the biblical quote, "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord"
