Jimmy McNichol was born James Vincent McNichol on July 2, 1961 in Los Angeles, California to Jim and Carolyn McNichol. McNichol had one sibling by the name of Kristy who would go on to act. McNichol's career in show business started when he appeared in a commercial for Band-Aids at the age of seven years old.

McNichol's next job was in the television series "Gunsmoke" in 1974. Later that year, McNichol would appear in three episodes of "Little House on the Prairie" as the character "Harry Baker" with Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon. In 1975, more roles in television followed such as "Shazam!" and "S.W.A.T" with Robert Urich. In 1976, McNichol won the role of "Tim Blake" in the television movie, "Stranded" with James Cromwell. The year after, he made a guest appearance in the short lived television series, "The Fitzpatricks" with Brian Dennehy. In 1978, McNichol released an album with his sister entitled "Kristy & Jimmy McNichol". The album featured songs such as "Girl You Really Got Me Going", "He's So Fine", "Rock 'N' Roll Is Here To Stay" and "Boogie Oogie Oogie". A tour for the album would ensue shortly after. A year later, he starred in the television movie, "Champions: A Love Story". That same year, he guest starred in the television series, "California Fever". In 1980, McNichol starred in the television movie, "Blinded by the Light" with his sister in which they played on screen siblings. In 1981, McNichol won the role of "Roscoe Wilton" in the comedy film, "Smokey Bites the Dust". McNichol's next film came two years later in "Escape from El Diablo". In 1983, he starred in two episodes of "The Love Boat" and won the lead role of "Billy Lynch" in the horror film, "Night Warning" with Bill Paxton. In 1984, McNichol starred in the television movie entitled "Safe Harbor". He also made appearances on the popular soap, "General Hospital". In 1985, he starred in "ABC Afterschool Specials" and the particular episode McNichols starred in was entitled, "First the Egg".

In 1991, Jimmy McNichol won the role of "Valentine McCallum" in the television movie "Reason for Living: The Jill Ireland Story" with Jill Clayburgh and Lance Henriksen. McNichol's last known acting appearance was in 1995, in the live action television series entitled "V.R. Troopers". In 1997, McNichol married and had two children. As of 1999, Jimmy McNichol was in a band by the name of "Wizard King" and had released a CD entitled "Echo Warrior".

    James McNichol actually has 2 siblings - Kristy (Kris) and Tommy.
