The restaurant has a casual atmosphere. They offer a nice table clothes with low lighting. They also have another room with paper on each table. This room is for eating steamed crabs. The paper keeps the mess down from the crabs.
My husband took me to Jimmy's to celebrate our anniversary. It was his first time going here and I had not been here for over twenty years. Neither of us were disappointed.
We had a very nice and attentive waitress. She answered all questions and was very prompt bringing drinks. She also did a great job of clearing the empty bowls and plates away. She went above and beyond the line of duty in my opinion and deserved a very nice tip.
My husband ordered the Surf and Turf plate. This order was $38.95. I thought this too be a little on the high side, however all seafood is out of season at this time of year. The platter consisted of a lobster tail and filet mignon. He also ordered a salad and baked potato with his meal. The lobster tail was steamed perfectly and the flavor was great. The filet of mignon was a much bigger piece of steak than either of us expected. This steak was fixed just right as well. The steak was medium well, with just a slight hint of pink and each piece just melted in your mouth.
For my main entree I ordered the T bone steak with a crab cake. The T bone was a little on the thin side but cooked to perfection. The fat on the steak was nice and crisp and very tasty. The crab cake was as big as my hand. I could not believe how big it was. The crab cake was full of lump crab meat and I mean big pieces of crab meat. The taste was also to die for. I could not believe the size of my entree. I paid $28.95 for this dish and it was well worth it.
We ordered cream of crab soup for our appetizer. This cost about $5.50 a bowl. Again well worth the price. There were a lot of pieces of lump crab meat in each bite. There was a thickness to the soup as well. I do not know what they used in their soup but the flavor is perfect. We also ordered two bowls of the soup to take home.
A note to readers. When reheating this soup do it very slowly. I heated it up in the microwave a minute at a time till it was hot. If you heat it up too fast you will curdle the soup.
We also ordered desert to take home. This was so we could share it with our daughter. I ordered their New York Cheese Cake. This did disappoint me. The cheese cake was a very small piece and it was more of a custard flavor than cheese. My husband and daughter got the blackout cake. This was chocolate moose, chocolate cake with extra chunks of chocolate. They found there dessert to taste very good. The piece they got was also small though. The blackout cake and cheese cake were $4.95 each. This is about average price for dessert in this area.
My husband also ordered a mix drink of Rum and coke. This was not too bad at $5.50 for one. The Pepsi I had was only $2.50. These prices are average.
Our total bill with all the carry out was $123.76. For most people this is not a cheap dinner. I can not afford to eat here often but for once in a great while this is the place to eat.
I could not have had better service and I could not have had better food. This restaurant is close enough to my home that I will be stopping in for a bowl of cream of crab soup to go.

Post a CommentI absolutely LOVE Jimmy's! I've been going there since I was a wee lad, and have had my wedding rehearsal dinner there! The portions are huge, the seafood is always fresh, and the people always treat you like family in there!!! An absolute must for anyone visiting the area!!!
Will go there if in area. Thanks Roberta Baxter
We had our annual Department Crab Feast this afternoon at Jimmy's. We were a party of 40. The time was from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30. When we arrived at 11:30, the only food to be seen was a bowl of Caesar Salad that could have served 10, a bowl of potato salad and cole slaw (approx. 2 lbs. each). At noon, a tray of fried chicken appeared (harder than a rock) which disappeared after the first 15 people served themselves. The upstairs room in which we were housed, was dingy and the bar only had soft drink taps--beer was poured into plastic pitchers and walked up the flight of stairs. The crabs appeared at 1:15. Dessert was chocolate and vanilla ice cream plopped on the serving table in metal bowls, no toppings, which contained ice crystals the size of my thumbnail. The chocolate ice cream had no taste whatsoever. BTW, it ran out after 15 people as well and it took chanting by the group in order for them to bring more.
But the worst part of the afternoon was when our table had finished our
