Now is the time to impress your recruiter or show any job weaknesses. Here are some tips to tell your interviewer why you are leaving your job.

Be honest with your answers. There is always more than one reason for leaving a job. Only talk about the positive ones. Say that you are looking for a professional growth, not that your boss was too unbearable. While explaining to the interviewer, give a bit of an extra effort. Help him to clear all doubts and worries about yourself. When you say that you are looking for a job change, convince him that you are interested in a long term professional growth. Otherwise, it will create an impression that you are unstable and might soon leave this job too.

Don't show your dissatisfaction in front of your prospective employer. Even when you produce all your qualifications in your resume, remember that there are lots of other candidates above you. It is your duty to make the interviewer feel confident about you. Don't show too much interest in money. It will only make your employer think that your priority is money and not the job. Before quoting your salary, do a market research and place a reasonable price in front of your interviewer. Prove that you are asking what you deserve, nothing more.

If you tell your employer that you want to leave your current job, and then tell him that you are looking for a more challenging job, which would provide you with better opportunities and growth. Money is the last thing on your mind. Tell that you want to be a part of a better organization. You can also site reasons of lay off, but never mention that it was a lay off related to a single person. Convince that it was a mass lay off. Never tell your interviewer that you left the last job because of some conflicts, management problems, work pressure or any health related problems. It will only create a negative impression on the mind of the interviewer. But if you are still continuing with your job, tell your interviewer that you have gathered experiences and have increased your skill and now looking for an opportunity to utilize them in a better way. When you are shifting from your own business to a payroll, convince your interviewer that you are totally satisfied with your entrepreneurship and now want to use the skill in the new job.

Convince your interviewer that you have learnt a lot from the earlier job. Tell him that you will be able to maximize your productivity by using the past experiences. You have to prove that you have learnt a lot from the earlier mistakes that you have committed.
