Jobs for Retirees: Discover How Supplementing Retirement Income Leaves You Shaking Your Head All the Way to the Bank
Work-at-home-opportunity Profiled by Diane Sawyer and Good Morning America
It started with little worries after one of your trips. Gosh, there was a lot more money spent than you had anticipated. It's not you. It's the cost of everything! Will there be enough to see you through? You're healthy, vital and even your doctor marvels at your vigor. Is the money going to run out of steam before you do?
This is when you start thinking of finding ways to add to your nest egg. Just enough to take the edge off the panic. After looking around, you've seen too few opportunities of employment for seniors. The ones you've found were minimum wage. The pay wouldn't cover the cost of going to work! You've looked online. Seems people are making money right on the internet. The options you've looked into seem to take awhile to see any money. "Isn't there something I could do where I could get paid a decent wage? Something that would fit in with my retirement lifestyle?" You wonder...
As a matter of fact there is. But maybe it's not for you. First, the location of the job. Because you have to do this job from home. Sorry. No commuting, guzzling gas, wardrobe costs or brown-bagging it. Hope you're not too disappointed. Oh, and you have to choose the hours in which you want to work. Flexibility may not be your thing. And many of your lifetime of skills are transferable to this work. If you're not totally turned off by these job requirements, keep reading!
Who would be hiring you to work at home? Could be any number of different companies, actually. Airlines such as JetBlue, American and Continental. Financial institutions like banks, credit card companies and investment firms. Big retailers like Proctor & Gamble, Office Depot, Staples and 1-800-FLOWERS. Any business which depends on customer service. And that's all of them, right?
You may not have heard of this work at home opportunity before because the customer service jobs were contracted out to conventional call centers and worse, off to far-flung countries. So what happened to cause this new employment trend? Cost and customer dissatisfaction. Traditional call centers cost too much money. Customer rebellion happened when they couldn't understand what the agents in other countries were saying! Then big business had an "A-Ha" moment. Bring the jobs back home where they belong. And hire home based agents!
This truly has become a win-win situation for all. As more and more companies see the value in hiring home based customer service agents, the numbers are expected to triple in the next two years. This is a work at home opportunity that's simply ideal for retirees. You work the hours you want to work which gives you the flexibility to spoil the grandkids while making sure there will be enough money to see you through the rest of your life. To do what you want to do whenever you want to do it. And listen to the grandkids brag about their grandparents, the cyber-agents!
