"The Internet Isn't Just for Gaming and Chatting Anymore..

It is true. Many of our jobs are being taken over by the advancement of technology. Self check out lines are being introduced to the retail world-making it unnecessary for full time cashiers. Some factories may have computer operated machinery that used to do what a person once done many years ago. Even in the medical fields, robotics are beginning to be introduced for possible surgeries. With an up and down economy, it's even getting harder to find a job out in the so called "real world." According to the United States Department of Employment, 15 million people were unemployed in the month of March, 2010. If you are one of those who were laid off from your job, a new graduate, or possibly just a stay at home mother or father looking for extra income, the Internet offers many legitimate opportunities to make money. It isn't necessary to have to go looking outside the home anymore for a job. Employment just might be a few steps away on your personal computer or laptop...

One new career on the Internet that is gaining popularity is online freelance writing. Many content websites are hiring content writers every day to produce content for hundreds of websites. Companies are looking for college students for internships, college graduates who hold bachelor degrees, editors with editing experience and writers who have been published. Websites such as Demand Studios, Associated Content, Break Studios and Textbroker. These types of jobs can also be found on Craigslist and also Indeed.com too. Some content writers pay up front fees for articles while some may only pay for page views. Some articles may be purchased anywhere from $5-$30.00 each. Others offer bonuses for page views as well.

Another type of freelance writing is writing reviews or blogging. If you enjoy trying products or would like to share your experiences with other online users, you can get paid for you opinions. Or -you can also blog about them. Some websites like Review Stream, pay their members for their reviews on items such such as beauty products, health, finance, travel, insurance and more. Once a member's account reaches $50, they are paid via PayPal. If you would rather blog about your opinions, or perhaps even every day life, start your own blog reel. Open an account at free blog hosting websites such as Blogspot. Use tools like Google Adsense to help you earn extra money. When you place ads on your websites, you can get paid when a reader clicks on one of those ads. Once your readership builds up, and you have many visitors, your Adsense earnings begin to add up. When Adsense users earn up to $100, they are paid by check or PayPal.

If you are the type who has a knack for organization or office work related jobs, try your hand at being a virtual assistant. Some companies may even hire you to type documents, keep websites updated or do other duties from your home instead of actually working in the office itself. Companies find it easier on the budget to hire contractors outside the office instead of having to employ someone to work directly with the company. Virtual assistants are also hired online. Websites such as virtualassistantjobs.com and virtualassistantjobs.org can help you get started on finding a virtual assistant job online and becoming an assistant from the comfort of your home. Try searching Craigslist for administrative jobs too-and send emails to company to find out if they would be interested in having you telecommute. You could do the majority of the work at home or online, and then make trips on occasion to the office as needed.

For those who enjoy holding garage sales , like to shop antiques or find a good deal, try selling your goods and wares online via eBay or Etsy. On eBay, you can sell clothing, antiques, old and new jewelry, trinkets, beauty products and more. If you are a crafter, turn your craft into a hobby and sell the items on Etsy. Etsy is an eBay type website, but sells handmade crafts only. Also instead of auctions, all listing are a "buy now" listing. Set up an account with PayPal to accept payments and credit cards, create an online store and begin listing your items. You will need a decent camera, lighting and a good back drop. Natural daylight is the best lighting to use. Sometimes plain white backgrounds (unless your item is white) work the best as well. If your item is light or all white-try using a dark background such as black for your photos. While it may take a bit of time to sell your items (or you can get lucky and sell them on your 1st try!), it can become a lucrative business. You can shop garage sales, thrift stores or antique stores to find ideal items to sell online. Clothes, books and movies are all popular items to sell online. If you would rather not hold stock to sell, you can try selling wholesale items online too. Sunrise Wholesale Merchandise allows you to post items for sale without actually keeping them in stock. In a way-you are the middleman-they hold your merchandise, you sell their items, and then they ship it to your customer. They will even list the name of your "business" on the return package. You can sell items at low prices without ever having to worry about managing a warehouse.

If you find yourself without work, you can begin trying to make a living at home. Sometimes starting a small business or becoming an independent contractor can be one of the best moves you can make in your life. It also allows you to spend more time with your family (since you make your own schedule), and make as little or as much money as you would like to make. While technology seems to be taking over a variety of our jobs-it can also benefit us as well. With the tools of the Internet, cell phones and the advancement of technology communication, you can hold a job at almost anywhere-right from the comfort of your own computer.
