Jockus Abundus

The Odd Species of Enthusiastic Sports Fans

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

The Fall rises
With the contagiously
Vicarious,
Loud and unabashedly
Commercialed
Testosterone.

Dystonic whining roars,
Gagged and muffled
Indoor voiced cheers
Of fans
And those who
Angelically
No, co-dependently
Tolerate them
Resonate hollowly
In public pubs
And private living rooms.

Fanhood does not
Render the southern parts
Of the perennial
If not eternal
Jockus Abundus
Vulnerable;
Protective gear
Is not needed by them
But by those
Unfortunate enough
To dwell in close
Company
And then,
It is to protect
The ears
Not the groin.

They need no reason
To bloom for yet
Another season.
Jockus Abundus lives on
Long after all observable
Relevance
Is long gone.

I don't follow football, but I LOVE college basketball! Sports are entertaining for some of us, but I really don't like the political parties being treated like sports teams!
