Jodie Foster Photo Op Gone Wrong: Parents of Teen Looking for Big Payday?

Valerie Ferrari
You don't have to be an Einstein to figure out why the parents of a 17-year old teenager who was taking Jodie Foster's pictures without her permission reported the incident to the police and accused the star of "battery." They figure there's some money to be made.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree either, or why else would their son be following Jodie around while she was out trying to enjoy a movie with her children.

The 17-year-old teenager, according to the Oscar winning actress reps was "most definitely a professional paparazzo." Jennifer Allen defended Jodie Foster saying the boy was "tailing Jodie and her young sons," and that he "crowded" the family, scaring the children. Allen noted that the teen photographer had a camera bag and telephoto lens.

The boy's father, however, said "He's just a kids who happens to have a nice camera," and called the paparazzo claims "ridiculous." The father doesn't seem to realize that filing the police report makes it look even more like the whole purpose of snapping Jodie Foster out with her children was to get photos that could be sold.

It may be that Jodie Foster mistook the teen for a paparazzo, but the claim that he was one isn't half as ridiculous as the parents then going to the police and filing a report. The father claims Jodie Foster "pushed and shoved" his son "leaving scratches and bruises on his arms." The police report (obtained by and online at RadarOnline.com) was actually amended to add that part about a "visible injury" on his left arm. The 47-year old actress also poked him in the chest, according to the police report.

Maybe the father should teach his son a lesson in courtesy instead of compounding the situation by filing a police report in a situation where his son was clearly in the wrong. His son intruded on a family outing and didn't even ask Ms. Foster's permission to take her photo.

He should put himself in Ms. Foster's place and think how he would react if someone started following him around taking pictures of him and his son. Instead he says that Ms. Foster angrily called his boy a "slimeball" and added: "This left a really bad impression on my son about her. He used to be a big fan and now he has a bad taste in his mouth. He's a good kid; kind of small for his age. There was no threat to Jodie."

I don't suppose he would admit that he would react the same way in her situation.

Some celebrities will allow fans to take their picture or let someone snap a picture of them with the fan and some won't, but a respectful, normal fan will ask if it's okay.

When a celebrity is out with his or her kids, it's more than just the typical "can I take your picture" or "have your autograph" intrusion.

It will be interesting to see what happens with any photos taken by the "injured" teen, but if it's up to the parents of this kid, it sure looks like if they can get away with selling them, they will.

What a loser that kid is and he seems to be from a whole loser family. We all wonder what is wrong with this country, well there is a great example of what is not right and the kid grows up and continues his bad behavior, sanctioned by his loser family.

It's not as if Jodie Foster was a glutton for the limelight... No matter what, children should be strictly off limits with all the whackjobs who stalk people...good article.

I agree wit Linda. Celeb's don't like to be taken advantage of when tey are taking personal time out with their kids. Any celeb think would be just as upset with someone following them around with a "nice camera". They get neough with the papparazzi. Asfor pushing the kid, well, I've heard of many stars pushings even professional photographers away. One is very famous for upset behaviour, Russell Crow. Of course he has a temper as well.

You're right, this kid was clearly in the wrong...everyone deserves SOME privacy. Hope nothing comes of this and the kid learns a lesson about respecting others.

If I was in Jodie's situation I'd do the same thing, especially with all the crazies out there. The kid's just out to get money. I hope he gets nothing.

Good job, Valerie. This kid's parents are the reason we have the word "disingenuous" in the dictionary. As for injuries...in the past half hour an easy chair in my basement (that's falling apart to the point of dangerous stuff sticking out) viciously took several gouges out of my forearm that I'll warrant are more serious injuries than this brat sustained.

Of course, the boy was in the wrong. Professional photographer or not, his father is not doing a good parenting job. The fact that he got close enough to "be injured" tells me he was not being respectful.

All for a buck. Val, your subpoena is in the mail.
