Joe Biden Takes on Sarah Palin Again

And Then Kind of Wished He Hadn't

Vice President Joe Biden went down to Watertown, New York to campaign for Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate for Congress in the special election in the 23rd Congressional District of New York. Then Biden went after Sarah Palin.

The campaign rally was sparsely attended, with just two hundred and fifty people showing up, fifty of them media. That did not stop Joe Biden from unloading on Sarah Palin, who has become the bogeywoman for the Democratic Party.

"Sarah Palin thinks the answer to energy is 'Drill, baby, drill. It's a lot more complicated, Sarah, than drill baby drill."

Considering the thrashing Joe Biden received at the hands of Sarah Palin during last year's campaign, Joe Biden might have been well advised to have avoided mentioning the former Alaska Governor. It was sort of like Joxer the Mighty going up against Xena Warrior Princess. What followed was not pretty.

Sarah Pali, apparently opting for the instant response for any attack, unleashed the deadliest Facebook page on the Internet and let Joe Biden have it.

"As the vice president knows, I have always advocated an all-of-the-above approach to American energy independence. Among other things, my alternative energy goal for Alaska sits at 50 percent because Alaska reached more than 20 percent during my term in office. The Obama-Biden administration, on the other hand, recently announced a renewable goal of only 25 percent. However, domestic drilling should remain a top priority in order to meet America's consumption and security needs."

Sarah Palin went on to mention Joe Biden's opposition to the Alaska Pipeline in the 1970s, which today delivers twenty percent of the nation's oil from the North Slope of Alaska. Then Sarah Palin thrashed Joe Biden on the subject of oil drilling, which the administration opposes-at least in the United States. "Apparently the Obama-Biden administration only approves of offshore drilling in Brazil, where it will provide security and jobs for Brazilians."

In other words, "drill baby drill" is that simple. Oil and natural gas still provides the bulk of America's energy needs and will for many years in the future. The more oil and gas the United States can get at in the United States, the less it has to buy from such nice folks as the Saudis and the Venezuelans.

The problem with people like Joe Biden is that he thinks things are complicated, when things are actually quite simple. Sarah Palin knows this and is able to cut through the obfuscation and spin by stating simple facts.

Sarah Palin, therefore, will be a marvel campaigning for candidates in 2010. And if she runs for President, it will be an epic.

Great job once again, Mark! Biden is such a knuckle head; he is the perfect example of a school yard bully: try to kick your enemy when you think they are down. But he isn't too swoof in the brain department (and they said Sarah was lacking?)--she just kicked his dumb butt good and she did it on facebook...no interview necessary. LOL
