Joe Biden: 'We're Gonna Have an International Crisis'

President Barack Obama to Be Tested

Mark Whittington
Joe Biden, Senator, candidate for Vice President, and walking, taking gaffe machine has done it again. At a fund raiser in Seattle Joe Biden promised that the election of Barack Obama would cause an international crisis for the United States.

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

Nor would the reaction of the future Obama/Biden Administration be considered the right one, at least initially.

"And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

Well, gracious, what are we to make of this? Senator Joe Biden, candidate for Vice President of the United States, is promising something on the level of the Berlin Wall Crisis or the Bay of Pigs, both foreign policy disasters that took place within months of JFK being elected, within the first six months of an Obama Administration. It could be that China will gobble up Taiwan or Russia will invade the Ukraine or Iran will try to nuke Israel. Either way, there's going to be trouble.

Why would this happen? It could be that Senator Joe Biden realizes that the enemies of the United States realizes that should a left wing, inexperienced, less than one term Senator become President, a great opportunity to mess with the United States will present itself.

Even more important, Senate Joe Biden is admitting that people will not believe that the Obama/Biden Administration's reaction will be the right one. What will cause people to conclude that? Maybe they are planning to use the diplomatic option in the same way Neville Chamberlain did sixty years ago.

There is another side to what Joe Biden suggested. The implication is that if we elect John McCain President, then this international crisis will not happen. John McCain, if he is anything, is experienced. And, let's face it, he can get a little mean and bellicose when the United States is threatened. In the wake of 9/11, for instance, he rose on the floor of the Senate and said, or words to the effect, "May God have mercy on them, because we will not." He was referring to the terrorists.

More recently, while Barack Obama was blaming both sides when Russia invaded Georgia, John McCain was being forthright in support of the country that was being invaded and in his opposition to the country that was doing the invading.

Joe Biden, in his own way, has offered the stark choice. If you were Vladimir Putin or Ahmadinejad, with whom would you rather deal with? And if you were, say, and American, whom would you rather have dealing with those two gentlemen?

    hehehe that's sooooooo true, Mike!
The question is how can we interpret this " Gov. Sarah Palin's expense reports say daughters performed official business" we are talking here about the daughter that is pregnant thou she is a teenager hmm... oooops!

  • Mike 10/22/2008

    "Think" is wright!
I mean its clear what he meant, but if you are a Palin fun you may have trouble getting it ...

Since you support Sara Palin that shows that your capacity of judgment is very interpretable ...
So whatever you interpreted is wrong..
This is why I don't think is worth to explain anything to you because you get it wrong any way.
It has to do with denial!
One more thing, it's pretty embarrassing to not be able to understand the meaning of a sentence and pretty low of you to "pretend" you understood something else...

HMMMM....Maybe the Bush-haters should rethink their hateration...especially if Biden is predicting an "international crisis" that could warrant some of the same scenerios we have in place now! Just my opionion...but Joe sounds like a self-seeking prophet, only wanting all the gold and glory when the S%*( hits the fan! Are these creptic "inside" messages nothing more than a good, Halloween goory story?...BOO!!! I'm scared!

Just glad it was a Dem saying it. Had it been a Conservative making that statement about Obama there would have been accusations of trying to win an election by scaring folks. Nice job Mark.

Since Joe Biden said it, I don't know whether to be worried or not! LOL

WTF? Is this Biden's cryptic way of telling us to vote for McCain? So though he didn't stick by Bush's decision to go to war and doesn't expect us to (even though most Americans were for it then), he wants America to stick by a foreign policy decision made by Obama, no matter how bad it might look? Now that's not hypocritical one bit.

Is he trying to "Jimmy Carter" his election? Many historians think the Iran hostage crisis is one of the main reasons that Reagan got elected and Carter didn't get to keep his job. I did hear on the TV that Bush was having both campaigns brought up to speed on threats so they can hit the ground running either way the election goes. Does Joe know something we don't?
