Joe, a 23 year-old receptionist from Chicago was the second person voted out of the Big Brother 8 house this season.
Jen won the Head of Household contest for this week. Unlike Kail the week before, Jen did not seem to have trouble picking her nominations. She even went so far as to make a comment to some of the other houseguests that she knew who she would pick.
With most of the house lobbying for her to select Joe as one of the nominees for eviction, Jen selected "Evil" Dick and his daughter Danielle. She said that her decision was based on the negative energies that these two people bring into the house as estranged father and daughter.
The veto challenge saw the contestants, including Jen and the two nominees, playing a modified game of curling. Whoever was farthest from the target in each round was eliminated. The eliminated player would then either choose to steal a gift from another contestant, or choose a new gift from under the tree in a "Christmas in July" theme.
In this contest Joe won a slop pass, Mike won a date with any houseguest, Amber got to be chained to another houseguest (Kail) for 24 hours, Dick won a plasma television, and Danielle won the power of veto.
Sadly for the houseguests, in this contest Jen won the right to wear a unitard for the entire week. She was thrilled about it and strutted around the house like a fashion model, but the other guests seemed very unsatisfied with the sight.
Danielle used her power of veto to do the expected and remove herself from the block. This caused Jen to go with her backup plan and nominate Joe, whom most of the houseguests had lobbied for earlier in the week.
The houseguests followed their own lead by evicting Joe by a vote of 9-1 that even included his bedmate Jessica voting to get him out of the house. The lone vote to keep Joe in the house was cast by Kail, who broke with her alliance to cast the vote and may have some trouble down the road because of her desire to keep Joe in the house.
This vote marks the second week in a row that a player who was chosen to be one of the people "sleeping with their enemies" was evicted from the house. Last week Carol, high school enemies with Jessica, was kicked out. This week Joe, ex-boyfriend of Dustin, was evicted.
Also on Big Brother Thursday night, Dick won the Head of Household competition. The night's HOH competition was called "Getting Schooled" and required houseguests to answer true or false questions about school themed questions about the Big Brother House or things that have happened in the house. Once again the contest came down to a tiebreaker and "Evil" Dick guessed the closest to how many hours Jen had been wearing her unitard. Dick is now the Head of Household and cannot be voted off next week.
