Joe Torre Tackles the Dodgers

The L.A. Dodgers May Have Picked Up the #1 Component of a Winning Team!

Heather Prinz
Joe Torre being hired as the new skipper for the L.A. Dodgers may be the highlight of the off season. Realistically, who doesn't want to see what happens? Weather you like Joe or not, there is no doubt that this is going to be a massive turning point for the life of the Dodgers as a team. Listen, we are talking about a man that has taken the Yankees to the playoffs for twelve straight years and has managed to pull four rings out of that. This is a man that lives and breathes baseball, from the time of his first major league appearance as a Milwaukee Brave to his first days as the Mets Manager, he is living the American Past Time.

With the Dodgers having such a terrible record, I foresee that if Torre can take the Dodgers to 90 wins in their division, he will be a Hero their fans. Can you imagine going from a sad season at 82-80 to a possible chance in the playoffs? This my friends is completely possible. Don't forget, A-Rod still hasn't signed anything anywhere. A-Rod comes with a $350 million price tag that I don't believe the Dodgers can pick up, but they will talk. Anything is possible. This is baseball for crying out loud, stranger things have happened. You bring in Torre and one heavy hitter like Rodriguez and you have a team with the morale and excitement of a lottery winner. Now of course this is wishful thinking on my part, but wow, wouldn't that be a nice change from the usual Dodger disorder?

Torre is known for being a gentleman and for his calm and understanding nature. He brings with him a massive amount of achievement and promise. If anyone can turn a team around it's Joe. He has always been able to create a well balanced relationship with his players and with any hope can do the same in L.A. Joe has a knack for being able to push his pitching staff and bench to the point of success.

The Dodgers may really have a chance to turn their club around if Torre can get some fresh players on the roster and switch up the club's normal way of baseball. The Dodgers haven't won a World Series since 1988 and Joe's expertise and resolve may be just what they need in future seasons to get there.

Joe Torre signed and accepted a $13 million, 3 year contract to manage the Dodgers. He says that this is the right team and the right time for him to be here. We will all have to wait in anticipation for the outcome of the post season in the NL West to know if he is right. I think he may just be!
