Joesph Raffael : Orange Fish

Sheri Fresonke Harper
temporarily forgot

this past time, bubbles blown
luminescent in breeze
ancestor fish
beckons
to slip tentative bare feet
across stepping stones

within glassine barrier
of viscous fluid
mirroring summer above

refracting life below
embryonic fluid
of peacock iridescence

ancient carp
rises poppy gold
fins support a step
for Darwin, almost
nose bumps surface
where bubbles trail

without thought
