The neat thing about the Jogauni is that they are not just an avatar. The creator made an entire story behind them, and there is even a quest. Each Jogauni color represents a different type of tribe. Each tribe has their own specialities and associations. When one goes to purchase one you will be told what type it is, but not the associations. If you talk to some Jogauni you can find out that there are different personalities associated with each tribe, but as in the notecard you get with the avatar it says that personalities do vary.
The myth concerning the Jogauni in Second Life goes, that in the beginning of the world there needed to be balance and so each tribe went out and creates that balance. The Jogauni race is supposedly went out to different areas of the world, and are against each other, only because it is necessary to create that balance. If you choose to be a Jogauni you do not have to roleplay its personality, or dislike other characters for being who they are. This is just the story.
Jogauni's also have other benefits. They get HUDs, which are picture menus you can use to interact with your character. One of the options is to chant. Chanting causes little particles around the Jogauni while it sways.
Another big benefit to the Jogauni is that they have a secret quest. Its quite complicated and involves the Jogauni going on a right of passage from being a child Jogauni to an adult. To start one must ask another Jogauni of any tribe how to start, and they will be given a clue. Once they pass that they will eventually get another HUD which lights up and gives them various clues, quests and puzzles as they navigate through the Luskwood sim. Luskwood is where the Jogauni creator is native to. The clues are relatively easy, but the puzzles can be very difficult and use the Jogauni notecard facts to complete. One the quest is completed the Jogauni gets a specialized weapon that is specific to their tribe. The weapon is scripted, which means it actually has action and effects associated with it. When going through the quest, one often needs help from other Jogauni. A good hint for this is to join the Jogauni of Second Life group. There are many helpful people on their willing to lend hints.
There are also groups based on each tribe, however you can't search for them. Instead one often has to find them by looking in the profiles of members who are of the same tribe and then join from there.
This is a general summation of the Jogauni. Since there isn't a lot of knowledge about them, I've tried to make this article as comprehensive as possible so that all those thinking of embracing the Jogauni way of life can be well-informed ahead of time.
