John a Dodson, 65, of Mound City Missouri, Died Sunday July 11, 2010 in Fatal Car Accident

July 11, 2010 - at 8:20 pm John A Dodson, 65 year old male of Mound City, Missouri was driving a 2002 GMC Sierra Pickup on Missouri Highway 111 about 1.5 miles North of Forest City when his vehicle traveled off the East Side of the Road.

The driver overcorrected and slid out of control. Although he was able to return to the roadway, the vehicle slid off the west side of the highway, Missouri 111, and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the truck to roll over onto the highway and slide off the east side, striking a bridge. The driver was not wearing a safety device.

The vehicle came to rest on it's top in the Northbound lane of MO111. John was pronounced dead at 9:35 pm at the scene of the accident by Holt County Coroner Susan Lentz. His body was taken to Meierhoffer Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The accident is being investigated further by Corporal S. Hux, #536 who will be assisted by Sergeant M Quilty, #1221 of the South Holt Rural Fire Department in Mound City and the Holt County Sheriff's Department.
