John Edwards May Be Indicted in Extra-Marital Affair Cover-up

According to a number of major news sources, the Justice Department may soon give the go ahead to indict John Edwards for alleged campaign finance law violations in connection with his extra-marital affair cover-up with Rielle Hunter. It is also being reported that it still is possible that a plea agreement could be reached with Edwards in the case.

Edwards extra-marital affair cover-up has been the subject of a 2 year investigation into weather campaign contributions amounting to about $1 million were used to hide the relationship he had with videographer Rielle Hunter, while he was a candidate, running for president of the United States.

A former aide of Edwards', Andrew Young says he was directed by Edwards to cover-up the affair. Young is now the governments key witness against Edwards.

Edwards did finally admit to the affair with Rielle Hunter, but denied he was the father of Francis Quinn Hunter, the child Rielle gave birth to. In 2010 Edwards admitted he in fact was the father of Rielle Hunter's child.

While Hunter was pregnant with Edwards child, she was hidden in lavish homes and flown around in private jets. In a book that Andrew Young wrote about Edward's affair, he claims the cover-up was financed by a wealthy heiress and the money was forwarded to him in the cover-up scheme. In an interview Edwards had a couple of years back, he denied any of this was done at his request.

Elizabeth Edwards, John Edwards wife at the time of the affair was suffering from breast cancer. She eventually filed for divorce, but died in Dec. of 2010 after a 6 year battle with the cancer.

Similar to the affair of another high profile politician, Arnold Schwarznegger, who also fathered a love-child and tried to keep it a secret, the John Edwards' affair probably has the most devastating effect on his family.

Innocent lives are suddenly trust into the spotlight and become victims of a media frenzy. They had absolutely nothing to do with the situation, but are forced to carry the shame of an unfaithful spouse or parent. The John Edwards' children have nobody else to fall back on and get support from, except each other, as there is no longer a mother in this household.

I guess we don't live in a perfect world, and some of these individuals who seem to think they're invincible don't realize the consequences of their actions until it ends up to be too late and the hurt they have caused can no longer be repaired.
