John Frieda Collection. Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Enhancing Shampoo with Highlight Optimizers

Your Hair Will Never Look Better

Susan Slade
Joining many of the online websites for health, and beauty products, means that I get samples from time to time. Last week in the mail was the John Frieda Collection Highlight Activating Enhancing Shampoo with Highlight Optimizers. I also received the matching conditioner.

My hair is kind of like Heinz varieties -- it has 57 tones or colors in it. Every strand seems to be a different blonde, light brown or medium brown. Then of course there is some white and gray.

When I looked at this product I figured it would be great for my color treated hair. I received a 0.28 fluid ounce (8.3 ml) sample of each product.

When I wash my hair every 4 or 5 days, I either use a color treated shampoo, or a conditioner. The reason for this is that my hair will go a brassy color with the intense Florida heat if I don't use a product of this kind.

So to get the most accurate review I could, I decided to use both products for the maximum benefit.

I cut the tops of both sachets and got into the shower. I stood under the water, and then moved back. I poured half of the shampoo into my hands, and rubbed them together. I applied it to my hair, and loved the floral smell. I got a reasonable shampoo, but decided to rinse it off, and apply the rest of the sachet.

My hair really foamed up, and I made sure that the shampoo went through every strand of my hair. I rinsed it again, and used the matching conditioner. I did the final rinse of my hair, and then got out of the shower.

I dried my hair slightly with the towel, and then looked in the mirror. I have never seen my hair shine like this before. All the different colors of my hair were 'glowing'. The silver ones were the brightest, which probably wasn't a good thing, but my hair was so vibrant. It also felt soft, and clean.

I continued to put gel in my hair, dry it with the hair dryer, used the curling iron, and then got in front of the mirror to tease it. I just couldn't believe the ash blonde, light blonde, mid blonde, brown, silver, and white hair that looked so alive.

I finished off backcombing my hair, and then placing it in a French twist. I have to say that this is the best color shampoo I have ever used. I put my hairspray on to hold it in place, and just loved the way my hair looked.

This pale lemon shampoo really does everything that the name of it describes.

From the John Frieda website about this product:

"Salon-inspired formula with Highlight Optimizers contains honey and oatmeal extracts to bring out glistening highlights for maximum blonde impact.

Amplifies mega-watt, golden shine without adding or depositing color.

Gently removes dulling build-up and residues that can make blonde look dark and dull.

Sparkling citrus fragrance has delicious green and floral under-notes.

For darker shades of natural, color-treated or highlighted blonde hair."

Now that I have tried the best, it will be hard to go back to the dozens of shampoos I have in the house. I will purchase a bottle of John Frieda Collection Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Enhancing Shampoo with Highlight Optimizers, as I have a $1 off coupon, with the samples.

However, at $6.49 for a 8.45 fluid ounce bottle, I will be waiting until one of the drugstores has it on sale.

Ever since my brain surgery and the shunt in my head, I was warned by the Neuro surgeon to NEVER put color or bleach on my hair. (I guess in the event that it seeped into the skin and somehow into the shunt - I dunno) anyway, I've missed highlighting my hair - but this seems to have natural ingredients - so I'll have to check it out. Thanks for this, cheers :)
