John Kerry's Daughter Alexandra Kerry Arrested for DUI
Senator and Presidential Candidate's Daughter Arrested
Los Angeles police say the 36-year-old Alexandra Kerry was stopped by police officers on a Hollywood street at about 12:40 Thursday morning. She refused a field sobriety test, including a breathalyzer, but police felt that she appeared to be intoxicated, so she was taken into custody. A blood alcohol test administered later at the police station, revealed Alexandra Kerry's blood alcohol level to be .06, which is under the California legal blood alcohol limit of .08. John Kerry pointed out, later, that Alexandra Kerry was not originally stopped for erratic driving, but for an expired tag. Police stated that she was actually stopped for a traffic violation.
Officer Bruce Borihanh says she was booked at the Hollywood police station and was released at about 5:30 Thursday morning, after posting bail of $5,000.
The "Internet Movie Database" lists several acting roles under Alexandra Kerry's name as well as credits as director, producer, and writer. Her most recent movie role was in the David Mamet film "Spartan," in which she played a bartender. She also made several appearances on the television show, "Mister Sterling." The show ran from January to March of 2003 and featured Josh Brolin in the role of an idealistic United States Senator. Alexandra Kerry was writer and director of the 2004 short, "The Last Full Measure."
TMZ states that with a blood alcohol of under .08, Alexandra Kerry is probably unlikely to be prosecuted unless she was driving like a lunatic. So far, there's little indication that that was the case. An LAPD spokeswoman did state that under California law, a person could, nevertheless, be prosecuted for a DUI in spite of palling a breathalyzer test if a vehicle was judged to have been operated unsafely due to alcohol consumption by the driver.
