John Maine, John Garland and Kyle Lohse: Fantasy Baseball Pitchers in the National League to Drop

B J Abel
With almost half of the Fantasy Baseball season over, hanging on to one of your top Fantasy Baseball picks just to save face in your league can almost guarantee a lost season. Ignoring where you drafted a player and looking at your team with a clean perspective is essential. We have enough games behind our belt this season to help us make some tough decisions in our Fantasy Baseball Leagues. Here is a list of the top three pitchers in the National League that have been a bust off of their expectations and should be dropped in all formats of Fantasy Baseball.

John Maine (NYM) - John Maine could be the biggest Fantasy Baseball disappointment this year. His fantastic season last year was a continuation of years past growing and bettering his numbers for the last 3 years straight. He was drafted pretty high in most Fantasy formats but has produced only ERA killing stats. He had one good outing right in the middle to keep you hoping but now its time to let go. Maine is part of a disappointing Mets rotation that has not only underperformed but is giving the Yankees a run for their money on poor starts.

Kyle Lohse (STL) - Besides Chris Carpenter there are no Fantasy pitching options on the St Louis Cardinals including Kyle Lohse. Kyle has a mild 3.99 ERA but has a nagging forearm injury that has placed him on the DL. His return date is on the air but even when he returns it is sketchy that it will be fully healed, not to mention the fact that the Cardinals offense begins and ENDS with Albert Pujols.

John Garland (ARI) - John Garland has lost his last 5 starts and ballooned his ERA to 5.45. This is not just a slump with his BB/K ballooning with it. Garland had the potential of being a buy cheap and get big dividends this year, hopefully you bought cheap so dropping him wont be to hard to justify. Being on Arizona with its up and down offense doesn't help his chances for wins, two of his last 5 starts were at least under 3 runs but his team couldn't muster any run support.
