John McCain and Colin Powell: What We Need During Wartime

Who I Feel Should Be Our Next President and Vice President

Aimee E
As an introduction, I would first like to state that I consider myself an Independent voter. My article and my opinions are based purely on my theories and opinions that I have pondered. Beliefs stated are purely my own, and in now way reflect anyone's attitudes but myself.

When it comes to electing our next president, John McCain has become a prominent figure in the campaign trail. When it comes to one candidate over the next, everyone has their own opinions about who would be more likely to become elected. Seeing as I am a woman, most would think I would pick Clinton, but as someone who is a military family, John McCain sparks my interest.

This interpretation is based on the fact that McCain was involved in the Vietnam War, and was a P.O.W. Therefore, he understands the stresses, fears, and concerns that current troops have to endure. While he has yet to announce a potential Vice Presidential Candidate, I have my ideas as to who would be a great match for him. For his running mate, Colin Powell, who himself was a military General, would be an excellent vice president. My hopes are, that we can go back to a time where, albeit briefly, the world was a better place and there was far less fighting, crime, and violence than there is today.

I also think McCain and Powell would be a good choice because it is representative of the country. For out top two leaders, a black and white person would be demographically realistic. Of course, we have to factor that women are missing from that demographic; so it would be important to make a woman a prominent figure in the White House.

What are your opinions on the subject? Who do you think would be a good president and vice president combination? So please be sure to comment and sound off. Any theories you have I am interested in hearing.

Powell was fed bad information by Bush and was made to look like a fool (we all know he is not a fool and is an honorable man) in front of the world presenting doctored information. I doubt he would consider running McCain who is obviously controlled by the same Bush people. I think the only reason his name is being floated is because he is very revered and McCain is disparate to take the spotlight off of Obama and Biden temporarily while he tries desperately to find anyone other than Romney to run with.

Hi, I´m writing from Colombia and I´d like to comment that many of these views are solely centered on the U.S. domestic scenario, focusing more on the mere personal liking or disliking of two public figures. But look at the big picture, on the foreign policy arena, where U.S. weaknesses are more obvious.

That´s where the John McCain/Colin Powell ticket would make more sense. Both are experienced and tried by fire, and to the WORLD they wouldn´t necessarily mean a third Bush term, but an honest attempt to correct the mistakes of the Bush administration.

Believe me, IT´S TRUE LEADERSHIP THE WORLD NEEDS. Whether you like it or not, if Obama were to sit in front of Ajmadinejad, Castro, Chávez or Jong Il, he´s going to look so SMALL and humble that nothing coming out of his mouth would mean anything to these thugs, a picture resembling that of a well-intentioned Chamberlain waving the empty promises of someone like Hitler.

Yes, I too agree on Colin Powell as an excellent choice for vice-president on the McCain Ticket . It downplays the race card played by the democrats, who have embarked themselves on a flamboyant approach on this election, waging nothing more than an empty charge of charisma.
Powell is the real example of the true leadership in which the african-american masses should be pinning their hopes on. A self-made man, down to earth on the foreign issues and also with impeccable credentials of true service, just as McCain´s.
I´m not an american citizen, but there is so much at stake in today´s world that choosing the RIGHT guys for he RIGHT job at the RIGHT time is IMPERATIVE.
U.S. people: don´t make the mistake of changing just for the sake of change. Bush has done a lame job, but only because he was the WRONG man under the most UNFORTUNATE circumstances.
But a McCain-Powell formula will have more on their side: they´re both TRIED BY ADVERSITY; that makes'em RIGHTE

Hello! I too think Colin Powell would be a perfect choice for Se. McCaine, as a V .I.P. Together they can beat the world, let alone Clinton and Obama! (Ex military spouse.)-J.Erwin
