John McCain: "Lighten Up and Get a Life"
McCain's "Straight Talking" Honest Opinion is Refreshing No Matter What Side of the Fence You May Consider Him On
Of course once media outlets heard the news, everyone was in an uproar about his lack of tact and political correctness. The website MoveOn.org is even launching an ad campaign against McCain, estimated to cost them $200,000. They are quoted by Associated Press as arguing that "the nation can't afford to have another reckless president."
Instead of apologizing like most politicians and people attacked by the media, John McCain told them to "lighten up and get a life." He said it was only a joke meant to amuse his old veteran friends. How refreshing is that? Finally we have a presidential candidate willing to stand their ground even when attacked by the big bad media, who often tend to control most everything about politicians and their views.
McCain has always been very clear on his support in aggressive control of rogue states. Although it's probably not the best political move from all sides of the board, his comments may actually bring some right-wing conservatives back to his side that thought he had gone soft and flip-floppy concerning international relations.
Maybe it was an irresponsible move on his part when tension in the middle east is high. But was the same group complaining and wasting money when their beloved left-winged, big-mouthed Speaker of the House took it upon herself to speak for the United States and Israel on her trip to Syria. I'm sorry Ms. Pelosi, but the last time I checked you weren't hired as a diplomat or foreign relations spokesperson. She was hired to be a member of Congress, a lawmaker, two people would have to die for her to be in that position. Gee someone was on a DANGEROUS power trip that day and I didn't see any ads trying to get her out of the political system. Not to mention her crazy "messages" to "Mr. President" which really send a message to the entire world that the "new congress in town" doesn't stand behind the President or our troops and we're entirely divided. Talk about reckless!
I for one have found a whole new respect for Mr. McCain. He's been pretty consistent so far in his views, but this really is proof. Other politicians and media really can learn a lesson from this. We do really need to lighten up and take a joke! Give the guy a break, at least he's honest and we know he'll stay that way even when the approval ratings are down.

Post a CommentThat's a fair telling. You've got me interested in McCain as a candidate. I always had respect for him. Definitely not a wuss or a weinie. I wonder how it would be if we had to "walk a mile in his shoes" through a North Vietnamese POW camp with 2 broken arms, a broken shoulder, and a broken leg. I don't think I could have survived that.
