John McCain, conservatives nightmare for a presidential candidate, seems to be racking up the essential numbers. But, looking beyond that, it's hard to see how McCain can win. One elephant in the room is illegal immigration. When it was brought up earlier in the race, John McCain grit his teeth, snarled and said we wouldn't see that bill again. Not because of a change of heart, but because so much of the nation threw a complete hissy fit over it.
The conservative base has not forgotten illegal immigration, the McCain-Feingold bill, the McCain-Kennedy bill and on and on it goes. Now, he walks a tightrope between saying enough conservative platitudes but not so many that it turns his moderate and independent voters away. Can he do it? I don't think so.
Looking back I have an odd theory about the RNC, McCain and the conservative candidates. In the beginning, fox news and the other media moguls did everything they could to keep Hunter, Thompson, Paul and Tancredo from getting their message out. It was all Rudy, then it was all Huckabee ending with all McCain. Except for the fine hair that Romney is hanging onto, there are no conservative candidates left.
Why would the RNC encourage this? Why slap the base in the face? I think it's because they KNOW they are going to lose in November. What? Stay with me.
For the first time in history the democrats find their own tightrope, balancing between the first woman and the first black man in the race for the White House.
Numbers from the primaries so far show that the democrats are so excited about BOTH of their candidates that they are turning out in record numbers. They are turning out sometimes more than 2 to 1. What does this mean?
It means the republican party hasn't been able to turn out enough numbers to even give the "appearance" of viability. McCain and his VP choice are done before they get started. I think the RNC thought it was McCain's "turn" like it was Bob Dole's "turn". In other words, the RNC is giving McCain the opportunity to run, not win.
The RNC is also on the tightrope. They have sacrificed the republican base for the McCain deal. The winner takes all states insured that McCain would have the help that he needed to win some primaries. Crowding the primaries when so many candidates were vying for position killed some prospects before they got started. Having the news media push some candidates while completely ignoring or laughing at conservative candidates worked.
I don't think the RNC wants to win in the fall. I think John McCain is going to lose his tightrope experiment. I think the RNC has damaged the conservative party beyond belief.

Post a CommentMichelle Obama should be ashamed.
"GLORK" Michelle Obama should be ashamed of her separatist-racist connection to Farrakhan and Chicago's Trinity United Church trumpeting Barack Obama AKA Barack Hussein Obama as the second coming of the messiah. Beneath that Darth-Vader-Mace-Windu-Jedi-Me ssiah Helmet Hairdo of Michelle Obama lurks a Wildabeast. If Michelle Obama new what her husband -- the Hope-A-Dope, Fonster Monster -- Barack Obama AKA Barack Hussein Obama did in Harlem, she would wash her wide-open, Hus-suey loving MUSILM mouth out, with twenty-four (24) mule-team double-cross X-boX-BorraX. The Lexis-Nexis-Albatross-Abacus-Complex of Barack and Michelle's relationship with MUSLIM "PATWANG-FWEEE" Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and black demagoguery of Obama's Stump Lines Echo Malcolm X; is about as much of a Hoax as Oxfam volunteers believe in HIV-- AIDS Witch Doctors in Africa they feed.

You hit the nail right on the head with this one.....something very rotten in this whole deal , ...obviously the RNC doesn't want to win this time around...all you have to do is look at the selection put in front of Republicans and most of all Conservatives...why or how could a true Conservative ever consider voting for McCain...and then there is the spoiler Huckabee.....and nary a conservative candidate left on the ballot. Ahh, American Politics....".the crookedest show in town."
great job covering this!
