John McCain is the current Chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI). IRI advances freedom and democracy worldwide by developing political parties, civic institutions, open elections, and the rule of law. While McCain's work to promote democracy is laudable, in the lead up to the Ukrainian Parliamentary election of 2006 some of McCain's closest advisors earned their stripes helping the candidate endorsed by the Russian Mafia and KGB. Is this the kind of export work and foreign exchange Americans really need?
Like no other country, Ukraine has been at the epicenter of the struggle for democracy within the former Soviet Union. The Ukrainian Presidential Election of 2004, received international media attention when the leading opposition candidate Victor Yushenko was almost killed by poisoning, permanently scaring his face and having all the hallmarks of the old and sinister KGB. This touched off an unprecedented set of events resulting in the "Orange Revolution", a seminal moment where the Ukrainian people took significant steps toward democracy, leaving behind a legacy of totalitarian and oppressive rule.
Rick Davis (McCain campaign manager) and Paul Manafort (another McCain adviser) began profiting by advising Victor Yanukovych and the enemies of democracy in Ukraine.
Paul Manafort and his staff were the subject of nonstop complaint and scandal among the local IRI staff members. The local advocates of Ukrankian Independence keep asking, "How can America send such a mixed message?" On the one hand, McCain as chairman of IRI should be providing non-partisan political party training activities to promote democracy and on the other and Davis, Manafort and Co., McCain's lead consultants, are actively consulting for Victor Yanukovych, a neo-soviet Kremlin puppet, who will use anything and everything in his power to manipulate an election.
Paul Manafort has a long history in Washington as a lobbyist. He is associated with Roger Stone and with Lee Atwater, all political backroom brawlers from as far back as Richard Nixon's Committee to Re-Elect the President (CREEP). Typical work for these men in Washington would be to help the winner of the Angolan civil war, Joseph Savimbi, obtain millions in U. S. goverment aid. In any event, these two men represent the very core of Washington Insider Skullduggery going back to the Nixon administration. Now that is what we call foreign policy experience.
Because of his strong ties to Davis and Manafort and his tacit support for Victor Yanukovych, has John McCain has compromised his moral authority in dealing with the countries of the former Soviet Union?
Will John McCain come clean and appoint men with less baggage to drive the "Straight Talk Express" bus to the White House? Floridians will know by the tenor of the attack advertising on the Airwaves and from the automated phone banks.

Post a CommentMost people do not know that the Orange Revolution was dominantly started by the God's Embassy church of Kiev, where 30,000 regularly attend service. Unlike government-controlled America, the freedom of speech enjoyed in the former Communist country allowed a Nigerian pastor to speak to his congregation about fairness and peaceful insistence. That is when they put up tents on Kreschatik Street in front of the government buildings. McCain, I like his feisty commitment to the Code of Conduct. However, his work for McCain Feingold is strictly Big Brother. The communists enjoyed such power... it seems the direction we are heading.
The purpose of the new media is to provide new information, not repeat the Main Stream Media lies. McCain is a typical Washington politician, who changes his position in order to conform to the political winds. Do you support amnesty for illegal aliens? John McCain does. If you believe he does not now, then you accept his latest position change. This information on his political operatives tells you a lot about Mr. McCain's supposed integrity. As if that was ever a real question. Mr. McCain's history with corrupt money is well known, or perhaps you have never heard of the Keating 5?
Your like or dislike of Mr. McCain is irrelevant to the facts. Facts are stubborn things.
Wow, that's a stretch..... maybe you can question McCain's moral ties to North Vietnam's former General Vo Giap. After all, we can prove that McCain was in North Vietnam compromising U.S. interests. Sorry, I like McCain. Significantly, McCain's not a lawyer and so is unused to equivocating and playing to both sides of an issue. Also in his favor , McCain hasn't got photos of Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter tattooed on his butt. Ideology is attractive to some people but it is not leadership. Whoever becomes president will have to work for all Americans, not just those who most represent a single set of ideas.
Mr. Burkin is a Floridian working for the group mentioned (IRI) and living in Kazakstan. In his course of contacts in Central Asia, these matters came to his attention regarding Ukraine. Russia is not playing patty-cake, and what happens in Ukraine reverberates across the region.
When men of good reputation and honesty serve abroad, and in the course of this service find reprehensible conduct, it is the duty of the honest men to alert the public to the double dealing. These Lobbyists are not in the game for the high calling of Patriotism, they are for hire to the highest bidder. You can check the wikipedia references to these men, Google the names, do what you will. I am repeating to you the text of a letter sent by Mr. Burkin, and he is not in the smear business, but Davis and Manafort are, and have been for a loooonngg time. My take on the subject is that McCain is probably turning a blind eye to the affair, hoping that the lobbyists will help him in the Presidential campaign. At this level of the playing field, you will not see an overt quid pro quo.
Ranger, don't forget to check the spelling and grammar next time you try to smear someone - maybe you'll have a bit more credibility then. It would be nice to have at least some basic familiarity with the subject before you write something about it.
Alma Alta Is many thousands of miles from Kiev. The two places have almost nothing in common, or to do with each other. Kiev is an ugly, dirty place, we used to call "Cement City". Alma Alta is one of the most beautiful, and dynamic places on earth. So too the people and cultures
Ranger, can you provide some links to establish the veracity of your article? Fascinating stuff, but as a doubting Thomas, I like to be able to confirm claims that are almost unbelievable. It's hard to believe that McCain, who was held by the Russian puppets of Vietnam as a POW for all those years, would allow himself to be associated with these thugs. Is Burkin's letter in the public domain? Thanks.
