John McCain/Sarah Palin or Barack Obama/Joe Biden

Benjamin Ira Mikell
Since the beginning of their Presidential and Vice-Presidential campaigns, we have been bombarded with a wide variety of advertisements and messages from Barack Obama/Joe Biden and John McCain/Sarah Palin. These individuals are vying for the top seat in this country, and the one we choose will have either a positive or negative impact on this country as well as upon individual lives.

Does it matter whom we choose to govern this country as President and Vice-President? The answer to this question is a resounding yes. While it is true that neither candidate for this very important office is not a perfect choice, it should be very obvious to those who are truly concerned, especially Christians, that John McCain and Sarah Palin is the better choice to lead us in a godly direction. In brief, McCain and Palin have more backbone and trustworthiness when it comes to leadership and getting things done. On the other hand, Obama and Biden, from what I have watched during the debates, for example, have shown to me as well as to many other concerned citizens, that they cannot be trusted with what they say on various issues.

In regards to our political situation and the November 4 election at hand, I am reminded of the time when the children of Israel became weary of being ruled by Judges. Their weariness and observation of the world around them led them to pressure the Prophet Samuel to give them a king so they can be like the other nations around them. God allowed them to have a king and warned Israel of what would happen after a king was appointed. God's warnings were ignored by Israel and were fullfilled in the account of King Saul and other kings who did not rule according to God's will.

Likewise, many good people such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and even John McCain himself have been sounding the alarm to everyone for a long period of time, especially to the undecided voter, about the consequences of electing Obama and Biden.

I truly believe in the right to vote, and that every individual should vote according to his or her conscience. But, I also believe in telling the truth and encouraging others to vote for McCain and Palin, whom I strongly believe is the right, and Biblical, choice for the next President and Vice-President of the United States of America. And, God will ultimately hold each of us accountable for the choice we made in this election.

Thank you for a great article. I have seen so many parallels with the Bible and this election. Right now we are studying the life of David in Sunday School. I pray everynight for McCain/Palin that God will see fit to allow them to be our next leaders. I keep telling myself that God has a Plan.

Ira, what a wonderful and insightful article. I am encouraging believers to do what Rev. John Hagee advises--VOTE THE BIBLE. This means vote on the issues the way the Bible instructs: the taking of innocent life-sin, holding tightly to the definition of marriage according to the Scriptures--one man, one woman, oppression of Israel in any form-sin, holding tightly and dearly to the freedoms our Constitution gives us by our Creator God and on which our nation was founded and especially our freedom of religion. Some believers don't understand that if another nation whose beliefs are not "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" for our citizens, takes control, we will no longer have those freedoms. There are those who stand behind the liberal "mouthpieces" who are ready to take over as soon as we let them through our careless and thoughless votes for what "looks and sounds" good. Believers: VOTE THE BIBLE.

I agree the children of Israel asking for a king is very similar to this situation. It seems that many folks just want something different - and they really don't care who or what it is as long as it's shiny and new.
