That is not the only problem with Stevens though. No no, John Stevens decides that Lasse Kukkonen is not meant to play defence on this team, why you may ask? Well that is an answer nobody knows. Kukkonen has always been a very solid defensive defenceman, he is known across the league for this. What is one of the Flyers main problems this season? Not having enough good defencemen! So why in the hell would you bench your good mobile denfencive minded defenceman?
Clearly John Stevens is attempting to sabatoge the Flyers, there is no doubt about it. He minimizes Steve Downie's role on the Flyers, he benches Lasse Kukkonen for no reason whatsoever... I mean jesus, how are you supposed to build chemistry on a team when you have good players getting benched or playing 4 minutes a game. Is it a suprise that the team is barely even in the playoffs right now? Maybe if Stevens would pull his head out of the ground, he would realize that not only can he not coach but he does nothing good for this team. Kukkonen blocks shots no problem, he can clear the zone and best of all he can actually move on the ice. Steve Downie is well, Steve Downie. The man is a legend already even though he is only in his first season with the team. He can score, hit and play the game it was meant to be played. Yet Stevens reduces him to playing Jim Dowd minutes! No offense to Jim Dowd, he is a gamer and a good role player... but Steve Downie is STEVE DOWNIE.
Stevens needs to wake up and realize that this team would be so much better without him coaching it. If he were to resign and let a real coach take over the Flyers could likely finish 5th in the east. Instead though Stevens will likely go on doing what he does best, acting like he knows how to coach.

Post a CommentThe Flyers are in a rapid slide to the bottom of the conference and John Stevens seems ill-prepared and unable to do anything proactive to change the fall. How much longer will this inept organization stick with this minor-league coach?
It isn't bad enough that we have overpaid for Briere but we have this moron behind the bench.
