John Travolta's son, Jett Travolta, died the morning of Friday, January 2, 2009. Jett Travolta was 16. According to a MSNBC news broadcast, Jett Travolta fell and hit his head on the bathtub. Jett may have been prone to seizures.

The Travolta family, including mother Kelly Preston, was spending time at their vacation home in the Bahamas when Jett Travolta's dead occurred. According to ABC News, a nanny and other family members tried to revive Jett, to no avail. Travolta's attorney, Michael Ossi, indicated that Jett Travolta did indeed have a history with seizures, but that they were under control until this fatal seizure.

Jett Travolta and Kawasaki Syndrome

Kelly Preston revealed in 2002 that her son Jett Travolta suffers from Kawasaki syndrome. Kawasaki syndrome is a rare disorder that primarily affects children under the age of five years old and is most common for, although not limited to, those of a Japanese or Korean descent.

According to KidsHealth.org, Kawasaki disorder is a lymph node disorder which causes rashes upon the body and if left untreated, it can cause damage to the heart and vascular system. There is no mention made of Kawasaki disorder causing seizures on KidsHealth.org, nor are seizures mentioned in the Wikipedia.org entry on Kawasaki disorder.

Travolta family grieves

According to ABC News, Travolta's lawyer Michael Ossi is quoted as saying, "This is the worst day of (Travolta's) life."

This fan of John Travolta grieves with him and his family. I fell in love with John Travolta watching him play Vinnie Barbarino in 'Welcome Back, Kotter' reruns on Nick at Night. Jett Travolta, according to his profile on IMDB.com, appeared once as himself in '101 Biggest Celebrity Oops' in 2004.

To lose a child at the young age of 16, like John Travolta lost his son Jett, is unfathomable. That something as innocuous as taking a bath could end a boy's life is tragic indeed.

Jett Travolta is survived by his father, John Travolta; mother, Kelly Preston; and sister, Emma Blue.
