Johnny Curtis Debuts on SmackDown

Spy Radio

NXT Season IV winner Johnny Curtis, made his debut on last nights episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The only problem was Curtis had to debut against "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry. It was not a good idea to have Curtis debut against Henry. Debuting against Henry makes it look like the WWE does not think highly of Curtis. Besides losing his debut match, Curtis did not debut for more than five months after winning NXT Season IV on March 1 st, 2011. Having Curtis wait a while to debut was not such a bad thing, until second place winner Brodus Clay debuted six days after the finale of NXT Season IV. Having Clay debut six days after the finale and making Curtis wait more than five months makes it seem like the WWE does not think highly of Curtis.

For a while it appeared the WWE was building Curtis up. The WWE was building Curtis up by featuring him in backstage promos that started on June 3 rd . Week after week Curtis would come up with a clever play on words, until he announced his debut on last nights episode of SmackDown. Not only was Curtis defeated in his debut he was defeated in about one minute. Having Curtis lose in one minute is another reason why the WWE does not think highly of Curtis.

If the WWE thought highly of Curtis they would have allowed him to last a while against Henry. They should have allowed Curtis to put on a decent match against Henry. That way the WWE Universe would have thought more highly of him. The WWE made Curtis look like a jobber. A jobber that may not be able to recover from his horrible debut.

The only thing Curtis has going for him now is a Championship Match. Curtis earned the right to compete in a Championship Match by winning NXT Season IV. The WWE may never give Curtis that opportunity based on the way things have been going for him.
