Johnny Depp Dies After Fatal Car Crash is a Hoax that is All Over the Internet This Morning

It appears as if someone re-released an old news report this morning and added a few things to it to make you think the famous actor died in a car crash after drunk driving. The story looks realistic and even carries the CNN logo.

"Johnny Depp's car was found along side the road in Bordeaux, France and it had crashed into the guard rail. The guard rail was embedded deep inside the car. The car was first found by a tourist who was driving by". See Picture of Car at CNN . Make sure to take a good look of a date on the article. It is from 2004. Someone went to a lot of work to make people believe this was a true story.

"As his wife summoned the police on the cell phone, the man checked the car for anyone who might be hurt and need help. Inside he found a body; it had been pushed into the back of the car, among scattered liquor bottles." Is one of the very detailed lines in the story.

Police arrived and pulled the body out and it was "Johnny Depp, the former movie actor". "Police suspect that alcohol plays a part in his accident and death." ( The former movie actor???) This does not sound right.

This along with a picture of the car was on CNN this morning. It looks very real and coming from CNN, we usually trust that this is the case because CNN is a reputable news outlet. The news is so shocking that you do not bother to look at it up close. Once you do, you see that it is a report from 2004.

The story refers to Johnny Depp, a former actor, as if he were a person who did community theator and not the super star that he is. The story throws out a few other questionable lines, and you start to wonder.

The story about Johnny Depp continues after this point, but does not talk about Johnny Depp. It starts talking about an expedition of cavers including some who were in the British Navy.

Is the story about the death and accident of Johnny Depp a mistake? Was it transcribed over another story? There is something about the wording of this story that does not feel right. There was no mention of Hollywood, his movies or even his age. This story sounds much different than one would expect when reading a report on a sudden death of a great Hollywood star.

It was one of the better done hoaxes on celebritiy deaths as of yet.

Once again, the story looks as if it was reported on CNN, which is one of the premier news cites. This story is all over the Internet on many other reputable sites also this morning.

*Johnny Depp is in France alive and well and getting ready to film another Prirate movie.
