Well that's easy, if you're the most powerful actor in Hollywood who pretty much can pick and choose which roles you want to play, and of course, your name is Johnny Depp. Yup, JOHNNY DEPP wants nothing more than to play the roles of Carol Channing's life biopic, Hamlet, and the character of Nick Charles in a remake of "The Thin Man".
Now wouldn't that be a scream? If you've seen "Before Night Falls", you'll know that Johnny can without a doubt play the part of a woman (or transvestite...whatever) very well. In fact, Johnny looks better as a woman than most women I know...sad, but true.
Johnny said recently,"My dream role would be to play musical legend Carol Channing in a biopic of her life. I love her, I really do. She's amazing," he told Britain's The Mirror Thursday. "With all the digital technology available these days I could probably pull it off."
And about the Hamlet part, his late buddy Marlon Brando told him he should play Hamlet before he gets too old.
"So what he (Brando) was trying to tell me was: play that f**king part, man. Play that part before you're too long in the tooth. Play it. And I would like to. I'd really, really like to."Read the rest of that article here.
And as for a remake of "The Thin Man", I can picture it perfectly, Johnny Depp playing the drunk, facetious detective Nick Charles. It's truly brilliant, but who could pull off Nora? As Josh Rottenberg says in his article on popwatch.ew.com,
"Depp's latest brainstorm is playing boozy, bantering detective Nick Charles, one half of the legendarily quick-witted and perpetually soused crime-solving couple Nick and Nora Charles, in a new adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's classic novel "The Thin Man". Depp's rep confirmed with EW that the actor is developing a "Thin Man" project through his production company, Infinitum Nihil, and Warner Bros. already has a short list of potential screenwriters. But Depp is already slated to star in Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows", and, according to Vulture (which originally broke this story), Marshall is flirting with directing a big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical "Wicked", so we may need to knock back a few martinis while we wait for this one.
Personally, I'd love to see these happen, especially Johnny playing Nick Charles. I can actually picture him in this role perfectly. I mean, he's already got the drunken part down from playing the gallavanting drunk pirate. The only caveat; who would play Nora? I'm at a loss. So, it all sounds great, perhaps with the exception of the Carol Channing biopic. I mean, c'mon...really? I suppose if it was done as a comedy, it could be brilliant, but as a real biopic? I'm not so sure. But honestly, I'd watch anything his gorgeous face in it.
What do you think about Johnny Depp's dream roles? And are there any other films you'd like to see Johnny star in?

Post a CommentNice article, I love Johnny =)... my uncle went to high school with him, lucky bastard. lol. Anyways, I'd love to see him in any role, he's awesome.
Great reporting on this! I have mixed feelings about Depp as Hamlet. He would possibly feminize Hamlet, which would be interesting. I know the outcome would be creative.
If a movie is ever made of Peter Gabriel's life, what are the odds that Johhny Depp would get the role as PG?
I really enjoy his acting
I often refer to Johnny Depp as the ultimate character actor, but that's not exactly right. Character actors have hundreds of film credits but you just don't quite know their names. Johnny Depp can play any character AND is a leading man. He can't be defined.
I love Johnny Depp. He is talented and I think he may look better than most women because of that perfectly sculpted face, great cheek bones. Nice work
Well done...:0)
I'll bet writing this article was a dream for you, too, Candice! Great work!
