Johnny Knoxville Turns Marriage into Jackass Divorce

All good and bad things must come to an end one day, and Johnny Knoxville knows this fact only too well. Amid numerous speculation and rumors that the star of "Jackass" has been fooling around with some of the hottest actresses in Hollywood today such as Jessica Simpson and others, Knoxville finally gave up all hopes of saving his tumultuous 12 year marriage and filed for divorce on July third.

Johnny Knoxville was probably thinking that if he filed for divorce around the fourth of July celebration, the press would not pick up on it immediately. He has been proven wrong, unfortunately, because the news of his divorce of wife Melanie Lynn Clapp made world news headlines as soon as somebody working in the Los Angeles court system spilled the beans on an internet website Tuesday night.

Even though most people outside of Hollywood were not aware of this fact, the Jackass couple had been separated for more than a year, according to the divorce papers Knoxville filed on the third of July. Knoxville has filed for joint custody of the couple's 11-year old daughter, Madison, and will also start paying spousal support as soon as the court can come up with a monthly spousal payment amount.

The reasons behind this separation that occurred more than a year ago can only be speculated upon because Knoxville's divorce papers don't specify the exact reason the marriage had been in such trouble over the past year. But the fact remains that Johnny Knoxville did have an affair with someone on the set of the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie he was the star of two years ago. Was it just a coincidence that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's marriage suddenly broke up at the time of the Knoxville's and Jessica Simpson's much talked about affair? Or was he the cause of their failed marriage as well? At this point, it really doesn't seem to matter at all, as most of the people involved in these bad marriages are already hooking up with other attractive people of the opposite sex.

Johnny Knoxville has been known as somewhat of a Hollywood playboy around Tinseltown, and now that he is legally filing for divorce, he should be able to enjoy his impending bachelorhood with a new found sense of freedom where he no longer has to deny rumors of certain romantic flings anymore. I feel that the hypocritical stance of most Hollywood actors that comes out in family-oriented interview magazines where the actor denies any trouble in his/her marriage is appalling at best and revolting at worst.

More Hollywood movers and shakers should display a more honest representation of what most people already know: that their marriage is a sham and should not be treated as anything more serious than a weak Jennifer Aniston comedy. Maybe by using more honesty in their interviews, the American heartland would not be so critical of the superficiallity that Hollywood has always represented throughout it's seedy history.
