It seems like everyone is thinking and going "green" these days, and eco-friendly living is becoming mainstream in many areas of our lives. Even traditional fundraising 5K and 10K races are now even going "green."

The City of Johns Creek in North Atlanta is sponsoring the first ever "Go Green - Be Green"5k Fun/Run, scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 8:00 AM. The race course winds through tree-lined and scenic Technology Park in Johns Creek. Registration kicks off at 6:45 in the morning in the parking lot of Lifetime Fitness at 1480 Lakefield Drive in Johns Creek.

Presented by the Johns Creek Recreation and Parks Department, the "Go Green - Be Green" 5K Fun/Run ties into the green of St. Patrick's Day, and the benefits of going "green" in your own home and community. Organic refreshments will be served, and every race participant will receive an organic cotton t-shirt and a canvas race bag filled with eco-conscious products. All race proceeds will benefit Johns Creek Beautification, a non-profit organization dedicated to the beautification of public spaces in Johns Creek.

Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, and to all first-place age group finishers.

The entry fee is $20.00 (until March 7th), and $25.00 afterward and day of race. Visit www.rungeorgia.com or www.Active.com for more race information and registration.

Johns Creek is located in North Atlanta, east of GA 400, and officially became a city by voter referendum in November, 2006. The City's first elected officials were then voted into office, with the City of Johns Creek becoming official on December 1, 2006.
