Johnson & Johnson Recalls Tylenol Arthrits Products

Consumers Have Experienced Illness After Ingesting Contaminated Products

Tylenol Arthritis has been pulled off shelves in a voluntary recall due to reports of serious symptoms of illness after consumers ingested the product.

Consumers first noticed a musty smell after ingesting the pills from the 100 count bottles capped with a red lid. The musty smell led to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea in many patients. Johnson & Johnson says the symptoms are not serious, but are "temporary and harmless symptoms".

The problem arises from a chemical called 2, 4,6 - tribromoanisole. This chemical comes from the breakdown of another chemical that is used in treatment of wooden pallets used for transportation and storage of packing materials. Johnson and Johnson claims that the contamination is limited to the five recalled lots, however, they have stopped production of the product until January, when production will be moved to another facility.

Johnson and Johnson have set up a website and hotline for those concerned about the recall, its symptoms, or refunds. Call Johnson and Johnson about Tylenol Arthritis recall information or refunds at 1-888-222-6036, or go to www.tylenol.com.

Althouth symptoms go away, they can lead to dehydration or other complications if not managed. Tylenol Arthritis tells consumers to see a doctor for further or serious complaints.
