The holiday season brings all types of celebrations. What better way to kick off this Christmas with a parade. There are several parades planned across West Tennessee, however, below you will find information on the parade that will be held in Savannah, Tennessee.

The Savannah Christmas Parade is hosted by the Savannah Rotary Club and will be held December 7, 2009, beginning at 6:00 pm. Gather along the street with a fresh cup of hot chocolate from the Dodge Store and watch as the parade makes its way through town with the theme, "Right Down Santa Claus Lane." Parade usually lasts about an hour. It is sure to be cold, so bundle up before heading outside.

In the parade you are sure to see lots of colorful lights, music, snowmen, wreaths, floats and even Santa himself! There are a few parade participants that throw candy from the floats, however, please be safe and don't run into the road to gather the treats.

Come on out and enjoy the celebration! This is a great time to spend with friends and family. Bring your cameras and take pictures of all the floats, horses, ATV's and more. These pictures are a great way to remember all the excitement and joy that the Christmas Parade brings.

When attending a parade there are a few safety tips you may want to keep in mind, especially if you have small children.

Tip 1- Bundle up! It is winter time; no one wants to get sick while trying to enjoy the holidays.

Tip 2- If you have small children keep an eye on them at all times. There are usually very large crowds and you don't want your child to get lost or separated from you.

Tip 3- When the parade is over there is a lot of traffic. Be careful when leaving, watch out for other drivers and please make sure children are correctly fastened into their car seats or seat belts.

Tip 4- If you have a young child, you may want to keep them in your vehicle and watch from there. This is so your little one doesn't have to get out and stand for a long period of time in the cold weather.

Have fun this Christmas and enjoy the parade! Join in on the celebration while seeing all the hard work the parade attendants put into each detail, and remember safety first!
