Joining the Wiccan Clergy

How to Move into the Inner Circle and Get a Complete Wiccan Education from Home

V. Sanders,
Wiccans and other pagans can become very mired down by the lack of community involvement they feel at times. Unless you reside in a very large or very progressive city it can be a daunting task to find others who share your religious beliefs if they fall somewhat out of the mainstream. In many areas the violence and persecution suffered by those who practice a largely misunderstood religion can lead to isolation and a deep desire to make contact with a religious family of some kind. Now, the Internet makes it possible to communicate with people all over the globe and create close knit communities even among people who live on separate continents, and this offers a new realm of possibilities and hope for those who previously felt isolated and alone. Many online Pagan and Wiccan communities have sprung up on the world wide web, some that are amazingly wonderful and respectable. These have done a lot to foster tolerance and understanding from outsiders as well. But there are those for whom a simple community isn't enough. Some Wiccans and Pagans feel the need to be deeply involved in the pursuit, study and practice of their religious beliefs, and where are they supposed to turn?

There are any number of schools out there on the net promising ordinations in this tradition or that tradition. Some seem to be credible, while others seem to be aimed at parting a person from their money. The less worthy schools are able to capitalize on the feelings of isolation and need for belonging in order to do a great deal of harm , both to those who fall into the trap, and to Wicca as a religion. Often, what they sell is not Wicca at all, but a bundle of fairy tales or something more insidious, such as Satanic anti Christian practices dressed up as Wicca. One proud and respected online school is brought to us by The Correllian Nativist Church. Witchschool, an online seminary based in Illinois offers classes where you can learn the details and history of Wicca with moving into 'certified' clergy status in mind. For so many solitary practitioners out there this can be a life changing experience.

Witchschool boasts over 190,000 students at current, and offers classes and initiations all the way up to the third degree/ high status. They also offer a store, classes in other subjects such as aromatherapy and how to make your own incense, and mentoring . The most interesting at5tribute of Witchschool and the Correllian Tradition that sets it apart from others is that they actually have a physical campus and temple, unlike most online Wiccan 'schools' which exist only in cyberspace. The classes are set up so that a complete beginner can come to thoroughly understand the religion and the responsibilities of clergy, but also provides a welcome opportunity for many who have practiced outside of a formal tradition and wish to be involved with a community. With a number of classes, community gatherings, a vast social network, and an ever expanding campus, Witchschool offers involvement on a number of levels from it's members.

If you are considering entering the Wiccan clergy but haven't been able to figure out which way to turn, take a look at Witchschool, it would certainly be worth your time. For those interested in learning about what the Wiccan religion is all about they offer a free first degree preview that gives an honest an accurate overview of the beliefs and ideals inherent in Wiccan thought. While Pagans and Wiccans of different traditions may not always agree where practice of religion is concerned, the community can surely agree that an idea like this is long past due.
