Jolie and Pitt Pondering Politics?

Don't Laugh - it Isn't as Far Fetched as You Might Think!

Lisa Thibault Pietsch
With the Beckhams moving to Hollywood, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were about to have some competition for the sexiest couple in L.A. with kids. Sure, Jolie and Pitt are American favorites but how does a man who likes to wear ratty jeans everywhere he goes compete with a professional athlete? Angie is gorgeous but if you stand them side by side, Posh does demand a second glance. The fact of the matter is that now is a good time to get out of Hollywood. Although I think the Beckhams moving in was probably a small factor in the Jolie-Pitt decision to move, I think their imminent move to New Orleans is mainly politically motivated. Yes, I think the Jolie-Pitts are planning to go political on us. Before you say "Oh, that's ridiculous" and roll your eyes, read on...

1. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have already stated publicly that they will not marry until every American who wants to has the right to. This may be cold feet, but it is also a very pro-gay political statement. Let's not forget that Angie was openly gay at one point in her life (so I guess that makes her bi now). This pro any-sex-you-like stand is very popular in Democratic circles.

2. Whenever Angie, and now Brad, adopt a child from a foreign country they have more than just proud Mommy and Daddy comments. There is always a comment about the plight of the people in (insert country here). Plenty of people adopt internationally without making political statements. Surely there is a purpose for theirs.

3. Angelina Jolie is already a hot shot at the United Nations. Sure, she was making a very commercial movie when she met her soon to be first child but she parlayed that adoption into a U.N.H.C.R. Goodwill Ambassadorship. A very hefty bullet on a political resume.

4. Jolie's half-French biology certainly won't hurt her popularity in the Cajun capitol either.

5. Brad Pitt has recently joined Global Green and is very excited about a 12-unit eco-friendly apartment complex whose design competition he has sponsored. The fact that he's joined this group is great and greater still the $100,000 he's putting up as prize money for the winning design. However, one has to wonder if the real value here is his making the rounds of the morning talk shows and doing as many interviews as he can to bring attention to the plight of those in Louisiana while also bringing attention to the fact that he is now such a proud family man who wants to make a difference in the world. These are political pearls.

All of these are major stepping stones to political careers.

Mark my words, folks. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have already won over Hollywood, now they're after Washington. (See, Democrats have Arnold Schwarzeneggers too!) It may not happen this year or next, but they'll become very active in Louisiana politics (Democratic Party, of course) and start making their way to the top of the political food chain. They'll continue to remain unmarried and adopt at least four more children from four more countries and I can't say it'll hurt their chances of rising to the top of Democratic Party politics.

It'll happen. Just remember who you heard it from when it does!

  • They're easy on the eyes.
  • They speak out on very political topics.
  • They get great publicity doing very political things.
The list of Hollywood A-Listers who have or are moving into politics is growing. It is becoming abundantly apparent that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are hoping to add their names to that list.

I would welcome either one into the political fray...in their "civilian" lives, they have done far more good in the world than Bush has in his entire political career..
