Jon Benét Ramsey: May Justice Finally Prevail as Colorado Police Reopen Case for JonBenet's Killer

Ira Mency
I cried some happy tears tonight as I heard the JonBenet Ramsey case would be reopened by Colorado Police brought to me by my Baltimore WJZ news channel..

The 1996 grusome murder of the tiny beauty pageant contestant has gone unsolved all these years. For me to have seen her parents as prime suspects and been questioned so much all those years, while her real killer was roaming free, it made me sick. When her mother, Patty, died of cancer in 2006, never to see justice done, this too sat uneasy on my mind all these years.

I have to say though you may diagree, that I personally fully blame the Boulder City Police for all of this as they wasted so much time focusing on the Ramsey's. I can almost understand why. In my city there are one or more murders each night. After a little investigating I found out that murders just don't happen very frequently in the town of Boulder. Does this mean we should give the police some type of sympathy for not handling things as efficiently as possible?

Boulder's 2000 census indicated they had approximately 94,673 people. The Official Website of the City of Boulder indicates population was estimated to be approximately 118.000 people by the year 2020 and is near those levels now. Murder statistics on that same site indicate from 2004 thru 2008, there was a total of THREE murders. Two adult and one juvenile if I'm reading it right. So one can only assume in town this size, having only three murders over the course of four years, I think it's a safe opinion that the police just don't handle murders frequently. Perhaps they are not as "murder saavy" detectives as they should be.

Granted, they also did not have the DNA technology that exists today, 13 years later. An official statement issued July 9, 2008 from the Police Chief indicated they were still committed to the case, and talks of the discovery of additional matching DNA. Mix that with the addition of a new Boulder County District Attorney, and the mere fact that this case went unsolved for so long and outraged the entire community and you have the makings for a totally new case.

I will be happy when Jon Benet's killer comes to justice. I pray that it will happen swiftly under this new adminstration. Mr. Ramsey has suffered enough pain, and financial ruin over this. What if he wasn't a prominent business man? If this would have happened to my family, or maybe yours, we would have been bankrupt by now having our name slandered, and not to mention suffered a nervous breakdown knowing our child's real killer goes unnoticed.

Only when the killer is brought to justice will there be many apologies to Mr. Ramsey for rountinely treating him as a suspect and having this case go unsolved for so long. Perhaps then justice will be served. It's just so dissapointing that in a picturesque town situated at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, known for it's beauty, that such a heineous crime could even take place on such a beauty herself.

Jon Benet' wherever you are, I'm sending my quick wishes for justice.

I have always been very suspicious of the people in the book shop at Boulder who could not have cared less about little Jon Bennett also Carol Milner who was anxious to buy the home where the little darling died. Did she know of hidden evidence.

I'm glad they are reopening the case. A No Name Us, you should go to the police if you know of something then call in an anonymous tip.

I recently visited a family in Jefferson County whose four year old daughter is being abused by her father...it is sad that I can only write about it secretly in this age of demoncracy...
